Week 1 – The Good And The Bad: What’s The Difference? A Level English Language Essay Help

Based on your own experience,  this week’s reading and your independent research: Identify and briefly discuss an example of an organization that has invested greatly in IT and yet has relatively little to show as a result. Then, identify and briefly discuss an organization where the opposite is true. To what do you attribute the difference?

Answer the prompt and respond to at least three of your peers’ posts. You must make an initial post before you are able to view the posts of your peers. To view the discussion board rubric, click the gear icon in the upper right corner and select “Show Rubric.”

A HINT about Conference Discussion at the Masters Level:

Try to get your initial post in early in the conference week and dialgue with your classmates through the conference week.   Think of our online as discussion in a traditional classroom.

Posting your initial post and your responses at the last moments of the discussion week would be similarto entering a traditional classroom and  discussion with 10 minutes left in the class – missing the discussion and dialogue raised by your classmates.   Remember – the intent of our conference discussion is to take the discussion to the next level…  the Masters Level of discussion.

Also…  posting early has its benefit, as you do not want to say the same thing that a classmate states.

Finally – please  use academic citations to fortify your position.

Lerts have a GREAT Discussion to start the semester!

There may be some crossover, such political scientists giving their opinions on issues, so be mindful if a report is trying to objectively explain an event or make a politically persuasive argument. For example, in 2016, one of every eleven voters who supported Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primaries defected from the Democrats and voted for Donald Trump. A political science study might examine why they did this or how it affected the final vote totals. Political commentary might explain why they were wrong or right to do this.

ID: A unique ID number used to identify the communication within the communication matrix.

“Who” → Target Audience: A descriiption of the target audience for this communication vehicle.

“What” → Descriiption: A descriiption of the communication.

“Where” → Communication Deliverable Type: A descriiption of the type of communication that will be delivered (e.g., fact sheet, infographic)

It must be clear that your communications matrix would/could:

Be utilized by the proposed coalition, task force, organization, etc., and

Reflect at least one communication strategy for each stakeholder listed in your strategic plan.

In other words, each stakeholder will now be considered a particular type of “target audience” and your communication matrix should account for all possible target audiences. Lastly, please use a table format for your communications matrix-

Support your conclusions with analysis.  Use the analytical techniques covered in the text or from other classes.

Your paper will be a formal (i.e., visual or stylistic) comparison of the two paintings listed below, both representing argumentative essay help: argumentative essay help

Your paper will be a formal (i.e., visual or stylistic) comparison of the two paintings listed below, both representing the Virgin Mary and the Christ Child. It is NOT a research paper in the sense that you will be concentrating on ‘close looking’ at images of the paintings, and the only contextual information you need is what you know from the Gardner text ( Gardner’s Art Though The Ages 15th edition). Below is the identifying information for both paintings:

Rogier van der Weyden
Netherlandish, c. 1399/1400-1464
Virgin and Child, after 1454
Oil on wood
The Edith A. and Percy S. Straus Collection
44.535

Antoniazzo Romano
Italian (Roman), c. 1430-1512
Virgin and Child with a Donor, c. 1480
Tempera and gold leaf on wood
The Edith A. and Percy S. Straus Collection 44.551

Your paper will be a visual comparison of this fifteenth-century Netherlandish painting with this fifteenth-century (Early Renaissance) Italian painting. Both are small devotional images, perhaps meant to be kept in the patron’s home or in a small chapel. Since Rogier van der Weyden is discussed in the Gardner text , you should spend some time writing of the Houston painting in relation to what you know of his other works. You might refer to specific paintings, for example, The Descent from the Cross in the Prado, Madrid. (I will come back to this point in my last question below). Antoniazzo Romano is not mentioned in the Gardner book: he was an important painter of this period in Rome, influenced by a number of painters, including the Florentine Domenico Ghirlandaio.
Your overarching theme is a discussion of the distinctive style of naturalism or realism in painting that developed in northern Europe versus the artistic style of Italy in the fifteenth century, using these two works as examples. (You may also refer to other works of art illustrated in the Gardner text to make your points by way of comparison.) How is Van der Weyden’s realism different from Romano’s? Is it perhaps somewhat more attentive to the depiction of small details than the Italian work? How might you relate the naturalism, spatial qualities, and use of light and shade in Romano’s painting to the general visual character of art Renaissance Italy, including certain features like the invention of linear perspective? That is, how does Romano’s work fit in to the progressively more naturalistic quality of 15th century Italian art compared to Italian art in the preceding couple of centuries? (Note the cast shadows in Romano’s painting.) Note also, however, at least a couple of “unrealistic” aspects of Romano’s painting: the miniature figure of the patron/donor, and the ‘adult’ posture of the infant Jesus, who seems to be able to stand almost on his own. How might you relate Romano to the classical tradition in Italian Renaissance art? Note here the particular idealized form the figure of the Virgin has, as well as the contrapposto stance of the Christ child.
In the visual comparison of these two paintings, also think about the difference in medium: Van der Weyden’s is in oil, Romano’s in tempera. How might this affect the visual qualities of each? Consider, for example, the intensity of the colors, the relative opacity or translucency of the pigments, and how the artists model their figures in light and shade (note the use of hatched lines in Romano’s painting). Are there other visual qualities and features of these works strike you as significant?
Consider also Van der Weyden’s particular reputation for the depiction of human emotions: how is this exemplified in the Houston painting? And how is this depiction of emotion similar or different from that in other examples of his work in the Gardner text? Does Romano also seem interested in articulating an emotional relationship between mother and child in his painting, and if so, how does he express this? In this respect, how is his painting similar or different from Romano’s? And for both paintings, how do the figures, in their body language and facial expressions, establish a connection with the viewer? How do you think this connection expresses the religious/devotional function of both these works?
Your paper should cover all the points mentioned, but not necessarily in the order I give them. You should not write the paper as a list of separate, unrelated answers to these questions, but as a unified essay, with a clear thesis statement in the introductory paragraph and a coherent argument. Your visual observations must all relate to aspects of that argument: do not simply offer visual descriiptions of the painting with no underlying point. Some of your visual observations of a painting may be highly specific to that work; others will be relative; that is, they will only make sense when you compare one painting to another. In this assignment we are not only trying to find out things that are true about a particular painting in an “absolute” sense, but also train our eyes to recognize stylistic differences/variations between paintings from different artists and different cultures. Try not to make value judgments about the paintings. This paper is NOT about whether you prefer one painting over the other, but about sharpening your understanding of the distinctive qualities of each work. Certainly, one of the points of this paper is to think about how there are multiple types of “realism” in different artistic traditions.

What to submit/deliverables: Word document that contains the Week 9 Assignment Template.

What is the value of doing this assignment? For the last nine weeks, you’ve been learning how the 10 Skills are an essential part of being successful in the future world of work. In Week 4 Assignment, you began to reflect on your skills and goals and how the 10 Skills have helped you reach accomplishments. Your understanding of the skills has been refined, and now it’s time to reflect on your strengths and areas for growth again in order to develop a plan moving forward.

For this assignment, you’ll identify three skills that you’d like to focus on and develop a plan for. This could be the three skills you wrote about for Week 2 Assignment or three new skills. As you think of which skills you’d like to improve upon, consider choosing skills at varying levels. You might, for example, choose a skill that you are already strong in, but would be excited to continue exploring and building upon, as well as a skill in which you might have more room for growth. At the end of the assignment, you’ll leave with the beginning of a tangible plan for personal and professional development that you can review with the Career Center team.

Your goal for this assignment is to: Practice your communication skill by using the Week 9 Assignment Template to outline a plan for developing skills to support a successful learning experience and career. To truly develop your communication skill it is important that you write using your own words and do not cut and paste from the Skills Definition table or any other source. (See the Skill Development Plan Sample .)

Steps to complete: In Week 9, complete and submit your Development Plan for Three Skills using the following steps:

STEP 1: Identify the targeted skill. Summarize your strengths and areas of improvement in this skill area. Then, identify your desired outcomes around this skill area and write a positive goal statement. Review the Skills Definition table if you need a quick reminder of the 10 skills. Complete the following sections of the template:

• Target Skill
• Strengths
• Areas of Improvement
• Desired Outcome
• Goal Statement

STEP 2: Specify the actions you can take to work towards your goals, with specific strategies and practices that you can apply. Identify any potential obstacles and challenges to achieving your goal. Complete the following sections of the template:

• Practices for Growth
• Action Steps
• Potential Obstacles and Challenges

STEP 3: Keeping your action plan in mind, identify trusted supporters and university resources that can help you in your skill development plan. Complete the following sections of the template:

• Key Supporters
• Supporting University Resources

STEP 4: Reflect on the connections between skill development and your overall personal, academic, and professional goals. Complete the following sections of the template:

• Benefits From Change and Connections to Personal, Academic, and Career Goals.

STEP 5: Complete Steps 1–4 for the two other skills you have identified. When you are done you should have three plans filled out in the template for three different skills.

Chapter 9: “Schools and Delinquency”
Chapter 9 explores how educational achievement and delinquency are related. Educational institutions are among the primary instruments of socialization, and as such they are bound to influence the amount of delinquent behavior by school-age children.
The chapter begins with an overview of the modern-day school and the factors in the school experience that appear to contribute to delinquent behavior. Student misbehaviors, which may have their roots in the school experience, range from minor infractions of school rules for example, smoking and loitering in the halls, to serious crimes such as assault, arson, drug abuse, and vandalism.
As school crime has become a national concern in recent years, delinquency in the school setting, with a focus on school shootings, is examined. The chapter presents research that indicates that the causes of school violence can be found at the individual, school, and community level. The chapter concludes with an examination of the efforts attempted by schools to prevent delinquency.
Chapter 10: “Drug Use and Delinquency”
This chapter addresses some important issues involving teenage substance abuse. The chapter begins with a review of the kinds of drugs adolescents are using and their frequency of use. Next, a variety of annual national surveys that measure the extent of teen drug use, including Monitoring the Future, the Parents’ Resource Institute for Drug Education (PRIDE) Survey, and the National Household Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), are evaluated. Many explanations for why youth use drugs have been offered, including growing up in disorganized areas in which there is a high degree of hopelessness, poverty, and despair; peer pressure; parental substance abuse; emotional problems; and those that are suffering from general problem-behavior syndrome.
The multiple pathways to drug abuse are then examined, followed by an exploration of the link between drug use and delinquency. The chapter concludes with a review of efforts to prevent and control the use of drugs among teenagers. A number of drug-control strategies have been tried; some are designed to prevent drug use, some deter drug use by targeting dealers, and others treat users who are already addicted.

prompt: parallels of hobbes views on mens right to authority to todays toxic masculinity custom essay help: custom essay help

Your essay will draw on the questions presented in your abstract, examining questions and concepts relevant to one or two political thinker/s studied in class. Start by identifying and characterizing your question/s, to then introduce the ideas and concepts that you find most useful in addressing them in a close dialogue with thinkers and texts (always include brief citations, which is both the evidence and raw matter with which we work in political theory). Briefly contextualize and explain how the concept works in its original framework, and show how you will be using it in the analysis of your own question.
Make sure to offer examples and to justify the importance and significance of your questions and concepts. As you conclude, explain what political dimensions or type of events your analysis helps to elucidate, and others, connected, that call for further research.
As you write the essay, make sure to:
· Identify your premises (ex., basic views about the human condition or society), when needed;
· Cite properly, economically, and strategically (a standard paper in political theory has an average of 5-7 references per page);
· Use definitions consistently throughout, and to back your claims with evidence (mostly textual, in the case of political theory);
· Any citation method (e.g., MLA, Chicago) is fine, as far as you are consistent;
· Avoid ad hominem fallacious arguments. Attacking a person will not compensate for a lack of arguments and evidence to discuss her arguments (for this class and beyond, consider checking out this little book, Weston, A. (2009). A rulebook for arguments. 4th ed. Indianapolis: Hackett).
· You can use the first person to state your theses, positions, and perspective (if just not in a colloquial way);
· Work and rework your argument until it flows from the initial question, premises, and announced thesis to the end. Make sure to connect the different parts of the argument and to make transitions clear;

Business types are generally classified as either service, merchandising, or manufacturing entities. As far as ownership, a business may be owned by one individual (proprietorship), by two or more persons (partnership), or by many investors (corporation).

Assume that you want to start a business; what would it be? Describe the type of business you would like to start. Would it be classified as a service, a merchandiser, a manufacturer, or a hybrid (more than one) type of business? Conduct research as needed and explain your classification. Each of the two novels that we have read represent how within imperial ventures historically different times are often writing essay help

Each of the two novels that we have read represent how within imperial ventures historically different times are often found in collision. This is what could be called as “the non-synchronicity of the synchronous” (Ungleichzeitigkeit). This term, which in German is one word and can also be rendered as “the non-simultaneity of the simultaneous,” denotes how we can be in the same present while living in different temporalities. Here is Ernst Bloch explanation of this concept: “Not all people exist in the same Now. They do so only externally, by virtue of the fact that they may all be seen today. But that does not mean that they are living at the same time with others.”

Both J. M. Coetzee’s Waiting for the Barbarians and Leo Tolstoy’s Hadji Murat offer contrasting examples of the tragic collision of non-simultaneous worlds. Write an essay in which you compare and contrast how this non-simultaneous simultaneity is achieved in each novel and by what means. In other words: how is it shown?

For this assignment, you are only required to listen to the first 2:37 of Scott Joplin’s “Fig Leaf Rag”. college essay help online: college essay help online

For this assignment, you are only required to listen to the first 2:37 of Scott Joplin’s “Fig Leaf Rag”. While Scott Joplin’s music was an important precursor to jazz, it is not jazz. For music to be jazz, it must have a significant portion of improvisation. Joplin’s music was entirely notated onto sheet music with no improvisation.
Fig Leaf Rag has several sections. Listen specifically from 00:00 to 02:37, and address the following questions. You are only to answer the following questions as they pertain to 00:00 to 02:37:
1- How many different sections are within the first two minutes and thirty-seven seconds of the piece? Do any sections repeat themselves? Is there an introduction?
(2 points)
2-For the first two minutes and thirty-seven seconds of “Fig Leaf Rag”, create a letter designation for the form. Starting with a capital “A”, use capital letters to label the different sections that occur AFTER the introduction (if you determined that there is an introduction). Include timestamps for each capital letter that mark the start and end times for each section. Include timestamps for the introduction as well (if you determined that there is an introduction). For any sections that repeat, reuse the letter. If a section does not repeat, simply go on to the next letter in the alphabet. Hint: the first A section is from 00:07 to 00:36. If you feel that the subsequent section, starting at 00:37, is the same as the section that started at 00:07, then the section starting at 0:37 should also be labelled “A”.
(4 points)
3-Most simply put, syncopation is the accenting of “off beats” or “upbeats”. Tap your foot to the beat of the music. When your foot is touching the ground, that is a “downbeat”. When your foot is off the ground, that is an “upbeat” or “off beat”. Syncopation occurs when the music accents or emphasizes off beats, or upbeats. Syncopations do not occur on downbeats. Is there syncopation in this piece? How prevalent is syncopation in the melody? Use timestamps to cite at least four specific examples of syncopation (for example, “0:15”).
(2 points)
4-
Characteristically, rags have a steady “um-pah, um-pah” in the left hand, with the low bass notes sounding on the strong beats and chords sounding on the weak beats of each or group of four beats. Does the left hand play this characteristic “um-pah” figure in “Fig Leaf Rag”, or is it more elaborate than that? Provide timestamps as you cite your examples (for example, “00:15”).

– Read and understand the question – it is a guide and signposts where the focus of your essay should be.

o The introduction provides an overview of the essay (i.e., what is being discussed) with some background information.

o You can choose to use sub-titles if you decide this adds clarity.

o Each of the paragraphs in the body of the essay should start with a topic sentence. Give your explanation and your opinion on the topic sentence. Each paragraph should have information from more than one source, with in-text citations; it compares and contrasts sources in an objective (two-sided) interpretation and informs the reader why the source supports the argument. The last sentence of the paragraph should give a conclusion/outcome for that topic.

o The conclusion section connects the ideas from the sources to your essay and describes how each supports your viewpoint. It states the importance of your topic from the evidence and reasons that you have discussed in the essay. The conclusion also rewords your claim, so it is clear you are offering a different perspective on the topic.

· Academic writing should be more formal, concise, unbiased and include good use of language. This is a skill that you develop throughout your course and beyond.

Option #1: Research and Reflection Paper—Management Perspective Your Portfolio Project synthesizes information gathered from an interview you will conduct with a manager of your choosing, the knowledg cheap essay help

Portfolio Project Interview Choose a manager to interview with whom you are familiar—ideally, someone whom you admire and aspire to emulate. Ask him or her for some time—perhaps you can sit down for coffee—during which you can describe your course learning objectives and discuss what you have so far taken away from the class (in brief). Ask the manager what insights he or she has to offer to you at this point in your career.
You will find the manager chosen and more information in the attached files.
The goal of the interview is to gain insight into what makes a good manager from the perspective of someone in a management position. Some topics to touch on in the interview could include the following:
How did your interviewee come to be a manager (i.e., what career path he or she follow)?
Has your interviewee found that professional certifications, volunteering, and continued education are important factors to career development?
What has surprised your interviewee most about what it means to be an effective leader (as opposed to the popular view of what a successful leader is and/or does)?
What roles are played by managerial goals, objectives, decision making, and communication on the job?
How does the interviewee handle change management at his or her organization, and what specific challenges has he or she encountered?
What advice does your interviewee offer to someone in your position in regards to your short- and long-term goals?
At the close of the interview, be sure to thank your interviewee for his or her time and assistance.
Research and Reflection PaperIn the next phase, ruminate on what you learned in your interview—especially anything that helped you gain a deeper insight into the topics you studied in the course—and write a research and reflection paper in which you draw upon learning shared with your instructor and colleagues, your individual learning, and knowledge you have gained from the interview to demonstrate a more in-depth understanding of the foundational principles of management. In your paper, go beyond recitation of memorized facts or regurgitation of information; strive to synthesize the most important topics of management (i.e., leadership, personality, motivation, decision making, communication, and the importance of good management to yourself and to society) into a hybrid research and reflection paper.
Your paper should integrate responses to each of the following questions in a well-organized and coherent paper:
Discuss the leadership precepts your interviewee imparted to you (or what can you glean on the topic as a result of your interview).
Describe how the leadership precepts dovetail with one or more of the modern theories of leadership.
Explain how the personalities of workers, colleagues, managers, and subordinates impact your performance in, and experience of, the workplace.
Explain how the personalities of workers, colleagues, managers, and subordinates interact with one or more leadership models to create the most effective work environment.
Describe one or two tenets of motivation theory have you taken away from the course, in light of your interview, the leadership model(s) you have discussed, and your own personality.
Discuss how your understandings of motivation theories impact your conceptions of the best practices when it comes to making decisions and communicating at work. Based on your interview and on learning from this course, summarize what it takes to be an effective employee, a successful manager, and an exemplary citizen of society.
Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:
Be 8 pages in length.
Be formatted in APA
Cite at least five scholarly sources, at least one of which is not provided in, or linked from, the course, to support your assertions and strengthen your arguments.

Instructions
Instructions Please respond to all 8 discussion separately/INDIVIDUALLY. Please divide the words equally between the 8 responses. Discussion #1Being in school online at home with three kids isn’t always easy. Just recently my kids got sick with the flu. That meant I had to put my schooling on hold during the day to give my constant attention to the kids. At night after bed time I would get them settled into bed and use the laptop to write an answer discussion post from bed. Then once they were sleeping I would get up and do what I needed on Words. By doing this it allowed me to stay active, not fall behind, or miss the due date. Now its a new week, the kids are feeling better and back in school so I am getting back on track.

Discussion #2Life certainly does throw curveballs at times and knock us off track. My reason for returning back to school centers around a life-altering situation where I found myself as a single mother, needing to strive for a better job to provide for my daughter. I work full time as well and have found that I can carry my schoolwork with me and can work on assignments during lunch hour breaks, or down time in my office. I also allot time once I am home from work and my daughter has gone to bed to work on assignments as well, in case I am not able to get anything accomplished during the day. Being an online student gives me the opportunity to schedule my schooling, and account for any uncontrollable situations. For example, if I am not feeling good one night, I know I have other times built into my schedule to be able to still stay on track for the rest of the week. This is only doable by planning out my week ahead, and not leaving assignments to the last minute. A plan of action in case a situation comes up in which I have no internet, I would go to my parents’ house and use theirs or go to my office at work and try there. In a situation of illness or death in the family, I would take a day or so to grieve and compose myself, then get back on track to finish out my week strong.

Discussion #3I have had instances where my internet has gone out while I was working on something and had to go to the coffee shop in the next town in order to finish what I was working on. A couple weeks ago, I thought that I wasn’t going to get my discussion questions done by the deadline because my daughter was sick and I had to take her to the ER. I was going to try to access them by using the browser in my phone from the hospital. Had that not worked or I wouldn’t have been able to get them done and turned in on time, I was going to explain to the instructor what had happened and ask if I could turn them in late. I feel like I have options available to me to help ensure my success in my courses if “life happens”.

Discussion #4Over the past several years, I have been an off and on college student. Reasons for lack of consistency was me not being fully motivated to stay the course. However, I have also been thrown a curve ball that derailed me from my journey. My husband was ill and unable to work, therefore I had to pick up a second job. It became too much for me, working a fulltime job, a part-time job, taking care of a sick spouse, taking care of home, while still raising a busy 6-year-old boy. It became very overwhelming, and of all the responsibilities I had, giving up school was the only plausible solution to reduce some stress for me. My instructors did offer extended time to complete assignments, but then they started piling up and I was running out of time, so I had to withdraw.

In the event something as unfortunate should happen again, I would like to think that I would stay the course and work through the challenges. Though it was temporary, even after he was able to go back to work and our life back to normalcy, I got complacent and decided to extend my break from school. Things that are meant for temporary hindrance should not be an excuse to procrastinate and prolong reaching the intended goal. Quitting should be a last resort, after all other resources or potential solutions have been exhausted.

Discussion #5
I think Critical thinking and Effective Communication would best relate to GCU Mission because these two take a big part of your day to day life even if you don’t notice it. I think they will help me reach my goals at GCU and beyond because If I am lacking these two, It can lead to problems in my day to day life as well as your career or other goals. I work everyday to improve these two.

Discussion #6I think that critical thinking will help me most throughout my college career. Critical thinking is a skill that has to be learned and practiced. It is important to think logically because things become less complicated. I have been told that I think logically and I am straight to the point. I should be that way because I can focus on the task at hand and prioritize the issues that are involved. I have found times when others are stressed about a situation I take the time to realize what is happening and try to have everyone relax. I take a step back and say what can be done and think about the future rather than focusing on the negative aspects of the situation.

Discussion #7I believe that the general education competencies that best fit the GCU mission are effective communication, Christian worldview, and global awareness, perspectives, and ethics. When I read GCU’s mission statement, I interpret it as wanting to create students that are educated, willing to listen, able to lead, compassionate, considerate, and wanting to better understand the world so that they can make a positive difference in it. I feel that effective communication helps with education, listening skills, understanding, and consideration. Christian world views tie into leadership, compassion, and consideration. Lastly global awareness, perspectives, and ethics covers every listed characteristic that I see GCU’s mission striving for. These three competencies will help me gain an overall understanding of the amazing diversity of the world that we live in and how I can be a positive influence and ally for other individuals. The three competencies that I chose will help me to learn about different cultures and their customs, to view those differences with respect and compassion, and how to properly communicate with the people of different lifestyles to have a positive impact on them whether it is in my personal, professional, or spiritual life.

Discussion #8I definitely think that education Competencies about global awareness relate the most to the GCU mission. They say: “define a personal role in a larger, diverse social context” and “Acknowledge individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and belief systems and interact appropriately”. To me, I think the most important thing you can do in life is to seek to understand and learn from others. I really enjoy getting to know how people tick. I think that GCU really wants us to walk away being better people and better thinkers. The more we surround ourselves with others who have experienced different journeys, the more we grow. No matter what your personal goals are with GCU or college for that matter- you can do anything and still be a great person!
