Unit 4 Discussion HRM635 Training, Development, And Evaluation Argumentative Essay Help

The purpose of unit discussion is to have an open dialogue that helps to expand your understanding of the course material as well as demonstrate your critical thinking abilities. While less formal than unit assignments, your posts should be supported with scholarly research. Participation throughout the assigned unit is encouraged so that you can participate in the give and take of a natural dialogue.

Analyze the pros/cons of on-the-job and off-the-job training. Some might argue that on-the job training can result in employees who are poorly trained, and it should be avoided whenever possible. Others might argue that off-the-job training can be ineffective because it is generic in nature. In your response, consider the pros/cons of each and when one might be more effective than the other.

Review Case Incident – Playing Video Games to Learn (Chapter 7). Conduct scholarly research to answer the assigned questions. Formulate a 2-3-page response in an APA (7th ed.) formatted report.

SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS FOR THE CASE STUDY.

Case IncIdent PlayIng VIdeo Games to Learn

Davis Controls Ltd., based in Oakville, Ontario, is an instrument and control company that was founded in 1933. Several years ago, the company introduced a training program to its sales force that involves playing a video game. The game consists of real-world, simulated sales call scenarios. The goal of the game is to secure a meeting with an avatar who represents a virtual client. Davis Controls introduced the game to its sales staff with a one-day class, but the

training takes place online on their own time. Sales reps are expected to complete three missions every two weeks. They can take time out during their day or play online from home after hours.

The game is structured around six basic principles: business skills, influencing,

negotiation, change technology, assertiveness, and presentation. Sales reps also learn about different customer styles, such as the “finisher” or “adapter.” The scenarios change with every mission but the core strategies are the same. Players are presented with a series of choices as they move along, with each one eliciting a different reaction from the avatar. The player’s performance depends on how well he/she learned strategies earlier in the game. The scenarios become increasingly difficult and more complex at each level. Trainees receive feedback at the end of every round. With 120 story-based missions, each taking from 20 to 30 minutes to play, it could take up to one year to finish all of the levels.

QuestIons

1. Describe the design factors that are used in the video game training program. How do these design factors contribute to trainee learning?

2. What are the advantages of the video game training program for employees and the organization? What are the disadvantages?

3. How effective do you think the video game training program will be for trainees? Be specific about what you think the game might or might not be effective for in terms of various outcomes (e.g., learning, sales performance).

Essay Prompt: In his memoir, Luis Rodríguez walks us through his life from childhood through young adulthood. The harsh college admissions essay help: college admissions essay help

Essay Prompt:

In his memoir, Luis Rodríguez walks us through his life from childhood through young adulthood. The harsh realities around him shape his world view:

“By the time I turned 18 years old, 25 of my friends had been killed by rival gangs, police, drugs, car crashes and suicides.” (Rodríguez, 4).

Rodríguez sees himself as “lucky” because he was able to escape death, prison, or a crime driven existence. He, unlike many of his peers, was able to get out—to escape.

Young men, especially young men of color, in impoverished neighbors are often lured into gang life. For some, partaking in gang activities is not an option—often times they are forced to and failing to do so could result in a beating or death. There are few alternatives or positive outlets for them and consequently gangs gain the upper hand.

According to Rodríguez, who is ultimately to blame for his involvement in gangs and who/what does he credit for “saving” him from gangs? Why are gangs so appealing to some?

There is actually no specific page or word requirement for this. And it will only be restricted to the essay help site:edu: essay help site:edu

There is actually no specific page or word requirement for this.
And it will only be restricted to the usage of this course.
The 3 paper is attached as well as the CVPR kit provided
The writing standard is identical to what is specified here:

https://cvpr2022.thecvf.com/author-guidelines

Below is the requirement by the prof:

You will be required to read all three papers and implement and evaluate the ideas from (at least) one of the papers.
Thus (at least) one of the papers that you select should contain material that is suitable for implementation. The
implementation must be nontrivial. A good guideline is that the implementation should be at least four pages of code.
This is not a strict guideline. Ultimately, I will determine whether or not the implementation meets the non-triviality
requirement. The implementation can be in any programming language that you choose, though obviously lower-level
languages may require much more code to implement the same functionality that could be achieved with less code
in a higher-level language. You must also conduct a substantive evaluation of your implementation to determine how
well it solves the intended problem. Ideally, you should replicate the experiments presented in the paper but I will not
require this.
You will be required to write a paper in LATEX meeting all of the submission format requirements of CVPR 2022
including the typesetting conventions and page length. Approximately half of this paper should be a substantive
critique of the three papers that you have read. And approximately half of this paper should be a descriiption of your
implementation and evaluation of the material from one of the papers. The term paper must be submitted by 5:00 pm
Friday 12 November 2021.
Term papers will be submitted through Brightspace Your submission should be a single PDF file with the extension
.pdf. The filename does not matter.
The term papers will be reviewed by other students in the class. Like all conferences, this process will be double-blind:
reviewers will not know the identity of authors and vice versa. To support this, like all conferences, you should NOT
put your name on the term paper submission. In place of your name, you should put your PUID. Also like conferences,
reviews will be confidential. The only person who will be privy to the reviews will be the reviewer, the instructor, and
the author.
I will assign each term paper to five students to read. Each student will be required to read five student term papers
(other than their own) and prepare conference-style reviews, primarily indicating clarity and the quality of the implementation effort. Peer reviews will be due by 5:00 pm Friday 3 December 2021. The exact format for the review will
be announced later in the semester.
Reviews will be submitted through Brightspace using a mechanism that will be announced later in the semester. Your
reviews should be formatted as text files with the extension .txt. Your reviews should be enclosed in a single ZIP
file with the extension .zip. The filename of the ZIP does not matter. But you should take care to use exactly the
names of the text files as will be described later in the semester
You will also be required to make a 12-minute conference-like presentation in class during the last six weeks of classes.
The exact schedule will be determined later in the semester. But to accommodate all students in class, presentations
will start on Friday 12 November 2021. So you should be prepared to give your presentation at any time after that. This
is necessary before the due date for paper submissions and the due date for reviews. This presentation should cover
both a summary of the three papers that you have read, a summary of your critique of those papers and a descriiption of
your implementation and evaluation. The presentation must be given in class presented either by a laptop connected to
the wall screens or on the computer at the podium. You can use whatever tools you wish to prepare your presentation
(i.e. LATEX/beamer or PowerPoint). On the day that you are scheduled to give your presentation, make sure ahead of
class that your presentation setup works and that you are prepared to give your presentation in the allotted time slot.
Students will be required to attend all student conference-like presentations. Attendance will be taken in the student
conference-like presentations.
