Characteristics that Would Lead a Provider to Suspect Abuse Within a Family
As mandated reporters, it is imperative that we can recognize the signs of abuse and know what to do with suspected abused patients. One obvious sign of abuse is neglect. Neglect can take shape in many ways, but easy to spot signs for mandated reporters include malnutrition, poor hygiene, inadequate shelter, and more (Mayo Clinic, 2021). Recognizing abuse includes these characteristics and more. For children, this may mean that during an assessment the child is timid or quiet around their caregiver, or for domestic violence victims, that their abuser might be weary to leave their side or answers the providers questions for the patient (Falkner, 2018). Abuse can take form in many ways and it is not always apparent to those providing care. Caring for an abused person, whether that be a child, a spouse, or an elderly person, requires patience and compassion, and the drive to rectify the abuse and get the victim to a safe space.
My Faculty’s Procedure for Reporting Suspected Abuse
At my hospital, we ask everyone who is capable of answering if they are being abused either physically or verbally by anyone at home or in their life. This often leads to saddening conversations about physical abuse they experienced as children, but I have fortunately only had to report one patient for being suspected of being abused. These questions are part of our admission assessment; this ensures that each patient is asked these questions. If a patient denies abuse, but the nurse has reason for suspicion, there is a drop down option that states this. The next steps in reporting abuse for me, as a clinical nurse, is to tell my Charge Nurse and the Attending provider. We also get our unit’s social workers involved with a consult as well as a case management worker. Then, with the Charge Nurse’s help, we file a written report so that the appropriate agencies will be notified.

Choose a film, TV series, or novel that you enjoy, and apply your sociological imagination. Use some course term, theory, or concept to analyze some aspect of the society depicted. You should watch (or rewatch) the film, read the entire novel, or watch at least 3 episodes of the TV show. Then, you’ll write 300-400 words that connect the film or novel to a key theme or concept of culture, education, mass media, government and the economy, or religion. Be sure to focus on sociological analysis, NOT plot summary; use summary and examples only to help highlight how the film reflects the sociological concepts you are describing. Be as specific as possible with your evidence/examples to receive full credit.
Your response should also:
Include a title that indicates both the sociological concept and the fictional piece you are analyzing. Examples: “Gender in The Godfather.” “Deviance in The Wolf of Wall Street.” “Applying Conflict Theory to Beauty and the Beast.”
Be “second draft” quality. Do a basic review for grammar/spelling, but the tone can be informal.
Include a bibliography at the bottom. You should have a bibliography entry for the film or novel. If you directly quote the textbook or another source, include an entry for that source, too.

submit the title of your film, along with a detailed annotated outline that includes the example quotes from film dialogue matched with the frames, storylines, and/or semantic moves of colorblind racism they represent.
You will be analyzing your chosen film from the four (4) Frames of Colorblind Racism – abstract liberalism, cultural racism, minimization of racism, and naturalization. Also, evidence of storylines and testimonies.
You will choose a film, present quotes from each of the colorblind racism, frames, and analyze them accordingly, in a minimum of 6 pages. As your critical-thinking decision-making objective, you should decide whether the societal evidence he/she reviews in the paper (a) demonstrates the typical colorblind pattern that Bonilla-Silva describes in the textbook; or (b) reveals a more progressive and/or minority pattern; or (c) some combination of the above; or (d) some other pattern not discussed in the textbook but worth exploring in future research. You may find that the quotes you analyze deliberately challenge one of the 4 frames of colorblindness in some way, and you can note this in the paper as well. Each paper should consider the implications of the analysis of colorblindness for the future of multiracial society. In other words, how do the representations discovered in your analysis help and/or hinder a society’s progress toward inclusive multiracial democracy?

Owners of a fee simple estate have ownership of their property “forever,” which means that they can pass their property to their descendants and keep the property in their family forever. Transfer of property through a will is known as a devise. However, you must also remember that private citizens do not hold perfect title to real estate, and even though property has been in the family for years, the government still has significant control over the property through police power. In this assignment you will deal with both of these issues. You will need to research county zoning laws and laws regarding wills to see how these two issues affect each other.
Silus Porter died and willed a parcel of 10 acres with a house and barn on it, to his relative Carol and her two grown children in Oswego County, Illinois, because even though Carol has a brother, he has no wife or children. Carol wants to install wind turbines on the property for energy generation for her home and to sell extra power back to the utility company. She will live on the property about 6½ months a year. The two grown children will work and live in Chicago, and their mother Carol will also stay in the city during the winter. The rest of the year Carol will spend in Oswego County, and her children will visit. Carol has a dog and therefore also wants to put up an electronic fence around one-half of an acre of her property. Carol’s son recently got married, and they are going to have a baby within the year. Due to this expansion of her family, Carol is thinking of converting the barn that is currently located in acre #2 to be a vacation house for her son and his children so they can have some privacy.
Access the Oswego County, IL, zoning for this assignment:
Explain the zoning with which Carol will need to comply for her wind turbine farm.
Explain the zoning with which she will need to comply for the electronic fence.
Determine the feasibility of converting the barn to her intended use.
Based on the three distribution types on pp. 482–483, diagram the relationships involved.
Describe how Carol could go about changing her will (using your chosen distribution method) to leave the main house to her daughter and brother while leaving the converted barn to her son and his family.
Explain what additional considerations there might be regarding the way she wants to distribute her estate. How could Carol address them?
Respond thoroughly to the checklist items above in a minimum of 10 Microsoft® PowerPoint® slides using 24 pt. font, with 4–5 bulleted items on each slide and bolded titles for the different sections. (You can add sub-sections.) Add your notes below each slide, with the additional title and APA style reference slides.
After checking the spelling and grammar, submit your presentation to the Unit 9 Assignment drobox.

a. The Cartoon: An African American officer complains to his shift supervisor
that posted on one of the main bulletin boards in the squad room is a cartoon
caricature with his name under it. The picture depicts a black male with a
bone drawn through his nose. The caption under the picture thanked the

b. Stereotypes and Suspicion: A call comes over dispatch that a security guard at
a shopping mall in a predominantly white neighborhood has seen four
Hispanic males. The security guard reports that they are gang members
because they are all wearing matching leather jackets and red ball caps. He
reports that they have just opened and closed their car trunk and are now
entering the mall. The security guard notifies the merchants, some of whom
immediately begin closing their stores. You are the officer in the vicinity of
the mall who responds to the call just as the juveniles are leaving the mall and
are heading toward their car. In the meantime, several merchants continue to
be anxious about the “gang members,” leaving their stores closed.
What should happen?
c. Relations among Community Groups: You are a police officer in an agency
that has been involved in community-oriented policing for several years. You
are working in a neighborhood where there has been conflict between Korean
Americans and African Americans. You have been summoned to a Korean
American store where the Korean clerk has made a citizen’s arrest on an
African American youth for petty theft. A group of African Americans has
gathered to protest the arrest. They are angry, but they are not hostile to you
and your backup officer. There are several ways you could approach this
multicultural community problem, and some of the ways would probably
ignite the situation more than necessary. What do you think is the best way to
handle the situation (i.e., with tact and sensitivity), given the animosity
between the two groups?
What should happen?

Over the past two years, a research group formed, designed, and built prototypes of small remote surveillance cameras used for security. Recently, your company won a contract to build and provide these remote surveillance cameras to various government agencies. The contract will begin with your company supplying these cameras to agencies within your home state. If all orders are fulfilled sufficiently, the contract will be expanded to supplying agencies outside of your home state.
For the immediate future, you will need to secure a larger facility and hire more staff to sustain the first part of the contract. This staff will consist of 10 Assembly Technicians, one Certified Quality Control Engineer, one Contract Administrator, and one Office Support Paraprofessional. Meanwhile, there is a contract clause requiring that you provide a staffing plan in order to ensure future product deliveries and sustain the possible future growth.
Note: You may create and/or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of these assignments.
Select one of the scenarios and write a 4–5 page paper in which you:

ENGL 112—English Communications II
Critical Analysis/Response Writing Prompt
Over the past week, we have read two readings and discussed their purposes and how the theme of community has played an important role. After selecting one reading for your essay, you identified two pieces of textual evidence and explained how it relates to the essay’s purpose (“So What?”) and theme of community.
For the draft, you are explaining the essay’s purpose (“So What?”) and exploring how the theme of community is prevalent in the essay. In addition, you are to give your perspective on the essay’s purpose and/or the theme of community and share how you share a personal connection to it.
Where to Begin: Start with the prewriting we did in class (your response activity) and expand on the essay’s purpose and/or theme of community.
Your paper must:
· Give a critical response on the essay’s purpose (“So what?”) and/or the theme of “community”. Support your response with examples from the selected reading and include at least one quote and one paraphrase (a total of two citations) in MLA format.
· State specific details giving your perspective on the reading’s purpose and/or community theme. Also, share how you share a personal connection to it.
· Produce academic argumentative writing using appropriate tone, style, and citation format as well as correct grammar, spelling, and sentence mechanics. Utilize academic voice.
· Include the structural components of academic writing: an introduction with a thesis, support paragraphs, and a conclusion. For more information about writing thesis statements, see Chapter 4 Lesson 4.3 in our eBook English Composition.
· Be at least 750 words (rough draft length) and formatted according to MLA style. Length does not include the Works Cited page.
· Include a first page with the following:
o Student’s name
o Instructor’s name
o Course name and number
o Date submitted
o Title of essay
o For assistance with the formatting and the first page, refer to this MLA resource:: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/mla_style/mla_formatting_and_style_guide/mla_general_format.html ; Also consult Lesson 7.9 in our eBook for MLA style basics.

Ø Remember the critical essay’s purpose: We are addressing the author’s purpose (the “So what?”) and/or theme of community AND discussing how we arrived at that conclusion in the body paragraphs. Your thesis is what you feel is the “So what?” (purpose) of the reading. Note: The “So what?” is the writer’s purpose — why the audience should care about this topic. So, we are making a claim about what we believe to the purpose/ “So what?” in the reading and its significance.
What parts are needed to complete the essay? The essay does not have a fixed structure, yet these 3 areas should be covered in the essay.
ü At least two paragraphs that discuss how the author shows what you feel is the purpose/ “So what?” in the essay and/or the theme of community. (This is where you would use examples, quotes, paraphrases from the selected reading to support your thesis.)
What shows that essay’s purpose or “So what?”? What shows there is community in the essay OR an absence of community in the essay?
ü In addition, a paragraph or two that discusses your thoughts on the essay’s purpose/“So what?”. What is your perspective or take on the essay’s purpose and/or theme of community? This is a good place to use your outside source to support your thoughts on the essay’s purpose.
ü Finally, a paragraph or two discussing your personal connection and response to the essay’s purpose and/or theme of community in the essay. How do you relate to the
essay’s purpose/ “So what?”? What are your thoughts on how this relates to community? How so? Remember to connect the essay’s purpose back to the theme of commun

As a toddler’s physical growth rate slows as they develop physical, cognitive, and emotional skills that help them become more independent. Much of the toddler’s behavior is a replication of what they see and hear (Hisley, 2015). They love to imitate the people around them and learn through repetition. A toddler typically likes order and frequently respond with difficulty to any disruption in routine. The level of response is associated to the temperament of the child (Hisley, 2015). Some toddlers may revolt with temper tantrums while others will calmly transition into an experience. Regardless of temperament, most children at this stage respond positively to predictable routines. The toddler’s taste buds are evolving and changing. It is important to make sure they get the appropriate nutrition needed and keep them well hydrated. Barriers can be resolved by allowing the toddler to self-feed and use a cup at mealtimes. Other options might also include allowing the child to make food choices, provide finger foods, and provide two to three healthy snacks per day (Hisley, 2015).
One of the most important self-hygiene tasks that toddler needs to understand is hand washing. They should be taught in an understandable way how germs are spread, and how hand washing kills germs. They should also understand how and when to wash their hands and encourage them to practice this skill often (Oswalt et. al, n.d.). Toddlers need plenty of exercise to keep their bodies and minds healthy and happy. Daily physical activity is essential for building strong bones and muscles as well as strengthening hearts and lungs. Exercise also helps to improve their gross motor skills, including running, kicking, throwing, and swinging (Oswalt et. al, n.d.). Regular physical activity can greatly decrease children’s risk of becoming obese and developing associated health problems and can also promote better sleep.
A healthy diet and physical activity are not the only thing that will help a child continue to grow and develop physically, mentally, and socially (Oswalt et. al, n.d.). They also need adequate amounts of sleep to allow their bodies time to recharge however, getting them to want to go to sleep is not always an easy task. A well-planned bedtime routine can help prepare the child mentally and physically to move from their active, exciting daytime adventures to quiet, nighttime sleep (Oswalt et. al, n.d.). Consistency is the most important part of a planned bedtime routine.

The friend counter counts, and then they count on their hands and air draws the number to see what it looks like. Then they discuss which friends are missing and what their names are to identify after they go outside and play with bikes and on the playground. Title VII prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. Sex (gender) discrimination is the unequal or disadvantageous treatment of an individual or group of individuals based on gender. Sexism is prejudice or discrimination based on one sex or gender. Sexism can affect anyone, but it primarily affects women and girls. It has been linked to stereotypes and gender roles and may include the belief that one sex or gender is superior to another.
Anne is an accountant with excellent performance evaluations. She tried to apply for Partner. The Partnership Review Committee consisted of all-male, denied her request. They said she would have a better chance at making Partner if she wore makeup, jewelry and acted more femininely. By looking at this scenario, Anne has the right to look for equal opportunity and career advancement. The Partnership Review Committee allowed the stereotype for women to control their outcomes toward Anne. Sexism is clear where the Partnership Review Committee looked to Anne as she needs to be more feminine to make the Partner. Anne faced disparate treatment where the Partnership Review Committee treated her less favorably than the male gender because of her sex. Anne suffered from invidious discrimination and unequal treatment, as she belongs to a minority group. The Committee has no reasonable relation or legitimate purpose because Anne is an outstanding employee who received excellent performance evaluations and secured a $10M client for the firm.
There is a similarity between Anne’s case and Hopkins ‘case, where the last was told to walk, talk, and dress more femininely (Bennett-Alexander

I have a rough draft kinda of construced with feed back from my professor on what she thinks need to be added.
This past year the NCAA announced a new rule called the NIL the Name, Image and Likeness rule that allows for all college players of any sport to profit off their names. The NCAA also took out the transfer rule that made players sit out for one full season if they transfer to a new university, now as soon as they enroll in a different university, they are fully active to play for the team. People argue that this is a good rule because now people who are less fortunate have a chance to make money at a younger age and get profit based on their overall likeness and can benefit from what they believe they deserve. Others argue that the new rule changes will affect the game in many negative ways in the future and overall change the game.
NIL is a new rule implemented this year by the NCAA which allows for the student athletes to sell their Name Image and likeness and make profit with no restriction on how much they can get paid. This new NIL rule will change the game of college football in negative ways. With the NIL rule the NCAA also took out the transfer sit out for one year rule and this has changed the game in ways never seen before. I spoke with the assistant athletic director here at TCU and asked him for his perspective and he says that the NIL is changing the game and right now many people don’t know how to handle it because the rules are all over the place. An article from Forbes that I have chosen explains how the NCAA had no choice but to change the rule, but this will have a negative effect of the game if things are not regulated. In this article they break down the transfer portal, amount players are getting paid, and TV contracts all big factors in the new era of college football.
Along with all the new rule, two of them include the transfer rule and no salary cap rule based on how much a player can make. With these rule changes now, there is no difference between college football and NFL football because now players can basically have salary’s and can be traded. If a really good player wanted to play for 4 years and 4 different schools and there were people willing to pay, he could. For the game of college football to continue, regulations and salary caps need to be implemented because not even a year since the rule have been changed things are getting out of hand and can only increase from here. Another problem that this is creating is that universities are supposed to have to control or link to the college athletes getting paid but, in many cases, universities are not following this and getting involved. I have spoken to some different people pertaining this and they have told me that if you as a university don’t get involved with the NIL then you will get behind the eight ball because other schools are already doing this even though it is against the rules. The problem is that there is a lot of gray area in the new wave of college football and many people are trying t keep up with the curb.
In another one of my articles, it talks about how the NIL will benefit athletes with new opportunities and give them things they and their families are not used to. For years people have been complaining about how the NCAA makes billions off of player jersey sells and media attention while the actual athletes who work receive nothing. This new rule makes it fair for the student athletes who work hard and achieve great standard and they are rewarded. Players now how the chance to improve their lifestyles a little bit and give back to their family with new contracts all based on your skill level.
There are arguments to both sides of the topic but at the end of the day without the correct regulations the NIL, the transfer rule, and no salary caps are going to change the game forever in negative ways. The Name, Image and Likeness rule does have some upsides as now players can have opportunities to pay off debts if they have them and educate themselves at a younger age how to handle money and the responsibilities that come with it. In the end the NCAA has to structure these new rules and era of college football because right now many are confused and trying to keep up with everyone else.
