QUESTION 13

Bell Products Corporation manufactures after-market clutch plates for motorcycles, automobiles, racing applications, and heavy industry vehicles. One of the first stages of clutch plate production is to stamp the raw plates out of rolls of metal. The process requires the use of 100 ton presses that stamp out hundreds of plates per minute.

A chemical is used to keep the presses from overheating and is automatically sprayed in fractions of seconds to keep the press operating smoothly to lubricate and prepare the metal. The chemical also keeps the press from sparking during the punching process. A small spark could cause a fire and safety hazard. Therefore, the chemical is crucial to the operation of the stamping process.

The stamping solution contains proprietary ingredients that are toxic and considered to be hazardous waste, and disposal must be through EPA approved methods. The cost to dispose of the chemical is many times greater than regular waste products.

Currently, Bell Products uses a traditional, volume-based costing system for its clutch plate products. Total manufacturing overhead for the period is allocated to the clutch plates based on machine hours.

Fred, who was recently hired, is the controller for Bell Products. He has five years of experience as a cost accountant at a lumber manufacturing facility. At the lumber plant, Fred implemented an activity-based costing system that helped the plant manager determine the profitability of various product lines. After getting to know the manufacturing process at Bell Products, Fred has determined that an activity-based costing system would help management make better decisions and track the costs of the clutch plates more accurately.

Tina is the manager of the stamping department and is good friends with Fred. Tina runs a very efficient department and has earned several bonuses for the stamping department’s production and profitability. Each of the department managers are evaluated based on the profitability of the departments based on internal cost reports.

If activity-based costing is used to allocate costs and the hazardous waste of the stamping chemical is allocated to the department that uses the product, the internally calculated profits of the stamping department would decline drastically. The decline in profitability would be due to the extreme high cost of the stamping chemical and this cost would be directed allocated to the stamping department.

Tina decides to take Fred to an expensive restaurant and eventually brings up the activity-based costing system. She voices her concern about the allocation of the hazardous waste being directly allocated to her department. She asks Fred if there is any way that he could reduce the amount of hazardous waste allocated to the stamping department. Fred values Tina’s friendship and realizes that she is on the compensation committee that evaluates Fred on an annual basis. Fred definitely wants to keep Tina happy and on his side.

As a result, Fred decides to not setup a cost pool for hazardous waste. He reasons that since the hazardous waste has always been a part of the manufacturing process, he will bury it as part of the manufacturing costs that are allocated across all departments. He justifies his decision because the activity-based system will still accurately allocate all other costs and it is much more accurate than the old traditional costing system. Fred feels no one will get hurt. Since the activity-based costing cannot be used for external reporting, Fred feels that his decision is not illegal.

Using the Institute of Management Accountants Statement of Ethical Professional Practice on page 13 of your textbook (Exhibit 1-7) as an ethical framework, answer the following questions:

What are the ethical issues in this case?

Activity-based costing cannot be used for external reporting. Does this fact influence your analysis of whether Fred has violated any ethical principles? Why, or why not?

Do you agree with Fred that no one will get hurt by burying the hazardous waste into the general manufacturing cost pool shared by all departments? Explain.

What are Fred’s responsibilities as a management accountant? What should he do now?

Your response must be at least 300 words in length

Rhodes, a wealthy businessman, and Axe, an artist, were involved in a business venture a few years ago, and Axe blamed Rhodes for the failure of that business venture. Despite the bad blood between the two, Rhodes, who was also an art collector, wanted one of Axe’s paintings because Axe was becoming more popular, and the value of his paintings was increasing.

Rhodes sent Axe a letter stating that he would pay Axe $100,000 if Axe would agree to paint a painting specifically for Rhodes. When Axe received Rhodes’s letter, he was angry and wrote a quick letter to Rhodes not only rejecting Rhodes’s offer but saying that he thought Rhodes was a crook who should be in jail. As soon as Axe put the letter rejecting Rhodes’s offer in the mail slot at the post office, Axe had second thoughts about rejecting the offer and decided that he would paint a quick painting and take Rhodes’s $100,000. Axe immediately called Rhodes and said he accepted Rhodes offer and was ready to start on the painting immediately. The next day, Rhodes received the letter from Axe rejecting the offer. Now, Rhodes was angry because the letter said that Axe thought he was a crook and should be in jail, so Rhodes immediately called Axe and said the deal was cancelled.

Guidelines for the Project Report Your final report will be over 2,000 words. Start and end your report with an Introduction plus a Summary and Conclusions sections respectively, each about 100 words. An Introduction should tell the reader about the report that follows and a bit about how the team selected its concept and what it expected to learn from the project. The Summary and Conclusions puts a wrap-up on your report where you can demonstrate your critical thinking and what you learned from the project. The report should follow the following outline: Describe Your Company Describe your imaginary company and its operations, its size, etc. It can be a service company or a company manufacturing a product. It can be an internet based company as long as the company’s overseas operations are such that it will experience all the challenges and opportunities faced by more traditional companies expanding overseas. In describing the operations of your imaginary company, ensure that you give a clear description of your business model and structure. For instance, if you operate a chain of coffee shops, where do you get your coffee from? If you manufacture a clothing line, do you have your own retail outlets or do you wholesale your product to existing retailers? If you repair an electronics product, e.g. smart phones, do you do this at the retail level or do you offer your services to existing large tech companies? Describe Your Home and Host Countries The country where your company has been operating domestically will be U.S. In selecting a host country for international expansion, the country should be one of interest to the team, have potential for business expansion, and be a country where you can develop the type of information and insights you will need in developing your integrated project. Be sure that you explain your reasons for selection of your host country (see chapter 3 and criteria for selection of a host country, benefits, costs, and risks). Decide on an Entry Strategy Describe your planned market entry strategy and give your reasons for this strategy. Also, how does your entry strategy relate to your core business strategy? See chapter 15. Note, to build a MNE, your entry strategy cannot be exporting or licensing. You have to set up some form of FDI in order to have operations in your host country. . Describe the Environment in Which You Will Be Operating Your Company Describe the overseas environment you will be operating in and the critical operational, political, legal, and economic factors you must consider and how they will affect your company. Chapters 2 and 3 provide important background on the issues you should be describing, but you will have to do research on your particular host country, particularly whether it is developed or developing and its stage of development. Describe the Cultural Profile of Your Host Country Provide a cultural profile of the local area in which you will be operating. What are the workers going to be like? What kind of reception do you anticipate from local government, suppliers, distributors, and so on? How will the culture affect your leadership and motivational approaches? Chapter 4 is important for this section of your report, but again, you will need to conduct research. Describe Your Organization Chart Showing the Company and Its Overseas Operations Draw up an organization chart showing your company and its overseas operations. Describe why you have chosen this structure and how you will connect your overseas operation to headquarters. Also ensure that your structure and controls make sense in terms of your chosen business level strategy (cost reduction, localization, or both). Consult chapters 13 and particularly chapter 14. Decide on a Staffing Policy for Top Level Managers in Your Overseas Operations How will you staff your management positions in your overseas operations? What is your rationale for this approach? Consult chapter 19. Describe the Kinds of Leadership and Motivational Systems You Will Use Given the culture where your overseas entity will be operating, what kind of leadership and motivational systems and practices do you think will be most effective? Consult chapter 14 and read the case on Lincoln Electric (page 419) where what worked in the U.S. was a cultural and motivational disaster overseas. Discuss the Kinds of Communications Issues Your Company May Face Discuss the kinds of communications problems your company may face in the host country working environment. How should they prepare for and deal with these problems? Consult chapter 4 on culture and understand difference between high and low context communications. Discuss Any Special Control Issues Your Company May Face in Its Overseas Operations Explain any special control issues for your overseas operations that concern you. How do you plan to deal with them? There is a host of potential control issues, e.g. protecting intellectual property, protecting against graft, quality control, protecting your brand, etc. Chapters 2, 3, and 5 are relevant here, but you will have to think about your operations and do research on the particular circumstances to be faced in your host country. Identify Concerns of the Host Country and the Local Community Identify the concerns of the host country and the local community regarding your operations there. What plans do you have to deal with their concerns and to ensure a long-term cooperative relationship? For instance, local concerns may relate to such matters as environmental pollution, creating jobs, following government regulations, employee training, and advancing new technologies, etc. Here you have to think politically and what you need to do to be accepted and ideally welcomed in your host country. This will require research on the particular concerns and issues of your host. List references used at the end or in endnotes. Include in-text citations when you used secondary resources, as you would in any paper.

Contract Scenario
Calvin had been an avid coin collector for many years, and the most valuable coin in his collection was an uncirculated, mint condition, 1943 Lincoln penny made of copper (most pennies made during World War II were made of zinc because copper was needed in the war effort). That penny had a value of between $60,000 and $95,000.In August of 2017, Calvin had a serious stroke that left him unable to speak or walk, but his doctor assured his family that Calvin would recover over time with intensive therapy. Calvin was a widower and did not have any children, but he had several nephews who visited him from time to time as he recovered. None of the nephews had any real interest in Calvin’s coin collection. One of Calvin’s nephews, Billy, who visited Calvin more often than the other nephews, sometimes listened to Calvin talk (talking was a part of Calvin’s therapy) about his mounting medical bills and his coin collection, but Billy never showed much interest in the medical bills or the coin collection. In October, as Calvin’s recovery progressed slowly, Billy visited Calvin and told Calvin that he had been reading about coin collecting, and he realized that Calvin’s collection, especially the 1943 Lincoln copper penny, was valuable, and Billy suggested that Calvin should consider selling the 1943 Lincoln copper penny and use the proceeds to pay his medical bills. Calvin resisted the idea at first, but Billy continued to urge Calvin to sell the penny so that he would not have to worry about the medical bills. Finally, when Billy told Calvin that he would arrange the sale of the penny for a commission of just 5% of the sale price of the penny, Calvin began to think that selling the coin might be a good idea. He was still a little confused about how the sale would work and what Billy would do to make sure that the penny would be sold for the best price. Calvin told Billy that he thought that the penny was worth almost $100,000, but Billy assured Calvin that the market had changed recently, and that the penny was now worth $40,000 to $45,000. Eventually, Calvin allowed Billy to sell the penny for the best price he could get and to take a 5% commission for arranging the sale of the penny. Billy then sold the penny to a friend for $40,000, took his 5% commission, and paid the remainder of the sale price to Calvin. A few months later, as Calvin continued to recover, he read a story in a coin collecting magazine about how an uncirculated, mint condition, 1943 Lincoln penny made of copper had just sold at auction for more than $100,000, and Calvin began to wonder if Billy had taken advantage of him. Calvin consulted a lawyer and asked the two questions below.

Did he (Calvin) have the mental capacity to enter into the contract when he agreed to let Billy sell the penny? What would he (Calvin) have to prove to show a court that he did not have the necessary mental capacity when he authorized Billy to sell the penny?

Did Billy exert undue influence over Calvin to cause Calvin to enter into the contract that allowed Billy to sell the penny?

What do you think? Does Calvin have a case to set aside the contract with Billy on either of these theories? Your case study should be at least two pages in length and include at least two outside sources. Be sure to use APA formatting for all citations and references.

Trifles is ostensibly dominated or controlled by the males in the play (even though, on a different level, the women are really calling the shots [or should we say, “are wearing the breeches”?]). Iden online essay help

Identify the gender assumptions of the male characters in the play and describe their “maleness.” In what ways are the different from the females in the play?
Trace the relationship between the (three) women in the play, beginning with the opening stage description. What inferences can you make about the relationship between Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters? How do they relate to one another at the beginning, in the middle, and toward the end? How does Minnie Wright fit into all this?
Discuss the importance of the title of the play? What does “trifles” really mean? Who uses the term, or a similar one, to describe what? In what sense do trifles relate to the “evidence” the men are after?
The symbols in Trifles are particularly suggestive. What symbols can you identify in the play (such as the obvious bird for example)? What might they suggest about the events in the play and about the social expectations of women and men at the time?
How does Glaspell establish the frontier setting in Trifles? Why would she locate the play in the West rather than, say, metropolitan New York?
What conflicts are apparent in the play? Are they internal, external, or both?https://go.gale.com/ps/i.do?p=LITF

Scholarly Criticism Analysis Assignment Sheet

Assignment in Brief: For this assignment, each student will select, summarize, and analyze a peer-reviewed journal article that analyzes one of the texts assigned for the course. The objective for this assignment is to analyze and understand how literary critics write about literature professionally. Your paper (1500 words) should attune both to the article’s larger argument and structure and to its details, offering both a summary and an analysis and evaluation, one that considers the article’s thesis, its use of evidence, its shortcomings, its organization, and its methodology.

Parameters:

Be sure to select a peer-reviewed journal article from the list below.
Your paper should be balanced between demonstrating an understanding of the article’s argument and structure (summary) and an analysis of what makes the article work or fail, in part or in whole (analysis and evaluative).
Structure: Your paper should have a header that distinguishes “Summary” and another header that distinguishes “Analysis and Evaluation.” Each section should be roughly half of the paper’s length.
Your paper should have in-text citations and a works cited page.
Final Product: The final product should ultimately demonstrate your ability to read, understand, analyze, and evaluate a piece of professional literary criticism.

Paper Rubric: Aside from the length requirement, this paper will be graded on the following criteria: 1) content, including the proper selection of an article, the clarity and logic of your own summary of the article, the quality and clarity of the analysis and evaluation of the article, and the balance between the summation and evaluation; 2) organization, including the presence and clarity of each of the two sections, organized into coherent paragraphs with topic sentences, evidence, and development; 3) documentation, including signal phrases, in-text citations, and a works cited page; and 4) grammar and mechanics.

The COVID-19 crisis has affected the work of many curators around the world since March 2020. Many museums and galleries were closed for a long period of time in 2020. Many arts institutions faced serious funding cuts and loss of revenue. Curators and other staff have been furloughed or lost their jobs entirely. Large scale international exhibition projects have been delayed or cancelled. Travel to view art and meet with artists in-person has been curtailed. In this context, how has curatorial practice adapted and what new strategies are curators exploring? Some questions to consider:

How can museums and galleries remain relevant if people can’t visit them in-person? Can exhibitions, which take curators years to plan and execute, be transferred to the digital realm? What is that digital experience of exhibitions like for artists and art audiences? What new technologies or online platforms have been used? When focusing on digital spaces, how are curators rethinking their approach? What is the role of social media in curatorial practice? How are curators taking art out of institutions to present it in the public realm that allows for social distancing? What do audiences like and want to see more of? What new strategies have curators learned during the pandemic that will now become regular practice?

For Assignment #3 students are asked to write a 2-3 page paper that compares and contrasts curatorial approaches to the presentation of contemporary art since Spring 2020. Students should consider where and what type of art is presented, as well as the format of programming that accompanies the presentation and audience responses. Students should start their research by reading this Artsy article from March 2020: www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-museums-curators-artists-find-innovative-solutions-showing-art-pandemic Now, two years on, use this as a jumping off point to research the impact of COVID-19 on contemporary curatorial practice.

C) Be sure to note the major goals of psychotherapy, transference and counter-transference issues, and the nature of the therapeutic relationship.

D) Describe how earlier life experiences may be impacting current emotional and relational functioning.

Case material:
Justina is a 32yo Puerto Rican cisgender woman presenting with depression who sought therapy to help her with symptoms of depression and anxiety. She recently took a leave of absence from her long-time position as a nurse due to the frequency of her panic attacks. She feels depressed, wakes up early in the morning (4-5am), and has little energy for work and family obligations. She reluctantly shared that one way she copes with her emotional difficulties is through eating and feels great shame that she has gained over 12 pounds in the past year. Moreover, she feels significant guilt about not fulfilling her family obligations. Most recently, her younger brother who had been living with her decided to move back to Puerto Rico. From her perspective, his decision to move back home represented her failure to resolve a dispute between him and her husband.

Justina was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She is the eldest child and has a younger sister and two younger brothers all who live in Puerto Rico. She describes her relationship with her mother as very close and idealizes her stating that she is “the perfect mother and wife”. She shares that her mother is nurturing, generous and “always there for the family” but sometimes to the detriment of her own personal needs. For example, she worries that her mother keeps putting off seeing a doctor despite some recent complaints about chronic pain because she wants to be available in case she is needed to provide childcare for her grandchildren. She describes her relationship with her father as similarly close. She notes that her father is a hard-worker and is impressed by his ability to provide for their family despite chronic instability to the Puerto Rican economy. As a young adult Justina boarded at her college institution in Puerto Rico while she earned a nursing degree. Her family expressed a lot of pride in her educational achievement and ability to live on her own. At the age of 20 she married a widower with a 12 yo son who was 10 years her senior. Following the wedding she moved to the mainland of the United States with her new family. She has tried to visit her family-of-origin once a year. While Justina is a U.S. citizen, she strongly identifies as Puerto Rican and adheres to the cultural values (respeto, familism, Marianismo, spiritualism via the Catholic faith) central to her ethnic culture. She is fluent in Spanish and English and speaks both languages at home with her husband and children.

She describes her family life in the Northeast of the U.S. as generally positive. However, the family has endured several medical crises that have left her feeling vulnerable to anxiety at certain times of the year (July through November) when one or another of her family has been ill or seriously injured. In recent years, it has been increasingly difficult for her to live so far away from her parents as she worries about their health and ability to financially take care of themselves.

Justina is beginning therapy with some ambivalence. She is at a loss for how to reduce her depression and anxiety and feels like she needs help. However, she says that she is nervous about therapy and scheduled this initial appointment with you only at the recommendation of her family physician who has seen her family through many medical crises in the past. She trusts, respects and to some extent idealizes her PCP. In this initial appointment she is extending that trust to you, stating, “If Dr. Jones says you can help then I can at least give you a try. He’s the best and I’m sure he would only recommend me to someone who is just as good”. When you ask about her presenting concerns, she says that she has become increasingly worried and even depressed. She believes that this is an important time for her to make changes to her life to improve her mood.

Four months into the work, Justina reacted in one session, when she felt that you didn’t understand her point of view. She began to feel irritated with you, and questioned whether therapy could truly help her. In this session she was sharing more about the decision to move to the Northeast part of the U.S. shortly after she got married. She said that the initial decision was made by her husband in part due to the cultural prescriiption that the husband be the primary decision-maker in the household. She remembered that he had inquired whether she supported the decision but she was very clear that this query seemed pro forma and that to disagree would be a violation of cultural gender role expectations and considered disrespectful. However, she married at a time in her life when she was independent, making her own decisions and supporting herself. She wonders if part of her current unhappiness is related to not fulfilling her own expectations for who she is as a woman, wife, mother and professional. You ask if she wishes she had taken a different approach to her husband’s initial question about her support of the move. When asked this question, Justina felt annoyed and wondered if you were criticizing her for moving away from her family. You try to understand how Justina experienced your query and aspects of your and her subjectivity that may have contributed to this misattunement. Justina explains that she doesn’t want to disappoint her husband or children by saying she is unhappy but feels confused about how to meet her own needs. She says that your question feels both like a challenge as well as an invitation to put herself first. She feels conflicted.

RE: #8 Four muscles of mastication- Origin, Insertion, Action college application essay help: college application essay help

Peer response

Research

What are muscles of mastication? Muscles of mastication are the muscles that are used when you chew on something. It is the process of moving the mandible up and down or side to side. Based on my research the four muscles of mastication are the Masseter Muscle, Temporal Muscle, Medial Pterygoid, and Lateral Pterygoid (Saladin, 2020, p. 238).

Masseter Muscle: The Masseter is the most dominant of the four muscles of mastication. This muscle divides into two parts a superficial head and a deep head (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The Masseter is located at the very back of your jaw line and goes up just below the cheek bone. The exact insertion would be at the angle of the mandible and superior surface of the ramus (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The exact origin of the superficial head is at the lower border of the zygomatic bone. The exact location of the deep head is at the lower border of the zygomatic arch (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The action of the masseter is to elevate and lower the mandible (Saladin, 2020, p. 238).

Temporal Muscle: This muscle is a fan shaped muscle; it is not divided into two parts like the others. The exact origin of this muscle is Temporal Fossa (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The exact insertion would be in the coronoid process of the mandible (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The action of the Temporal Muscle is the elevation and retraction of the mandible which closes the mouth (Saladin, 2020, p. 238).

Medial Pterygoid: This muscle also divides into two parts. The exact origin of the superficial head of the Medial Pterygoid is Maxillary tuberosity and pyramidal process of bone (kind of where your wisdom teeth are located) (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The exact origin of the deep head is the medial surface of lateral pterygoid (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). They both insert into the medial surface of the ramus (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The action of this muscle is the control over the side-to-side movement of the jaw (Saladin, 2020, p. 238).

Lateral Pterygoid: This muscle has two parts as well. The exact origin of the superficial head would be at the Greater wing of sphenoid bone (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The deep head is located on the lateral surface of the lateral pterygoid plate (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The insertion of the lateral pterygoid is at the anterior aspect of the mandibular condyle (Saladin, 2020, p. 238). The action of this muscle is that it depresses the mandible (Saladin, 2020, p. 238).

Critical Thinking

Muscles of mastication are muscles that work together to open and close your mouth. All the movements are the movements of the mandible to chew which is called mastication. You may be wondering what the mandible is? The mandible is your lower jawbone and is the largest bone in the human skull. The maxilla (which is the upper jaw) does not move, therefore the mandible is the only one part that moves. All the four muscles of mastication are connected to the mandible to make it move up and down and side to side.

CASE 1 ROBIN HOOD* It was in the spring of the second year of his insurrection against the High Essay essay help site:edu: essay help site:edu

CASE 1
ROBIN HOOD*
It was in the spring of the second year of his insurrection against the High Sheriff of Nottingham that Robin Hood took a walk in Sherwood Forest. As he walked he pondered the progress of the campaign, the disposition of his forces, the Sheriff’s recent moves, and the options that confronted him.

The revolt against the Sheriff had begun as a personal crusade, erupting out of Robin’s conflict with the Sheriff and his administration. Alone, however, Robin Hood could do little. He therefore sought allies, men with grievances and a deep sense of justice. Later he welcomed all who came, asking few questions, and only demanding a willingness to serve. Strength, he believed, lay in numbers.

He spent the first year forging the group into a disciplined band, united in enmity against the Sheriff, and willing to live outside the law. The band’s organization was simple. Robin ruled supreme, making all important decisions. He delegated specific tasks to his lieutenants. Will Scarlett was in charge of intelligence and scouting. His main job was to shadow the Sheriff and his men, always alert to their next move. He also collected information on the travel plans of rich merchants and tax collectors. Little John kept discipline among the men, and saw to it that their archery was at the high peak that their profession demanded. Scarlock took care of the finances, converting loot into cash, paying shares of the take, and finding suitable hiding places for the surplus. Finally, Much the Miller’s son had the difficult task of provisioning the ever-increasing band of Merrymen.

The increasing size of the band was a source of satisfaction for Robin, but also a source of concern. The fame of his Merrymen was spreading, and new recruits poured in from every corner of England. As the band grew larger, their small bivouac became a major encampment. Between raids the men milled about, talking and playing games. Vigilance was in decline, and discipline was becoming harder to enforce. “Why,” Robin reflected, “I don’t know half the men I run into these days.”

The growing band was also beginning to exceed the food capacity of the forest. Game was becoming scarce, and supplies had to be obtained from outlying villages. The cost of buying food was beginning to drain the band’s financial reserves at the very moment when revenues were in decline. Travelers, especially those with the most to lose, were now giving the forest a wide berth. This was costly and inconvenient to them, but it was preferable to having all their goods confiscated.

Robin believed that the time had come for the Merrymen to change their policy of outright confiscation of goods to one of a fixed transit tax. His lieutenants strongly resisted this idea. They were proud of the Merrymen’s famous motto: “Rob the rich and give to the poor.” “The farmers and the townspeople,” they argued, “are our most important allies. How can we tax them, and still hope for their help in our fight against the Sheriff?”

Robin wondered how long the Merrymen could keep to the ways and methods of their early days. The Sheriff was growing stronger and better organized. He now had the money and the men, and was beginning to harass the band, probing for its weaknesses.

The tide of events was beginning to turn against the Merrymen. Robin felt that the campaign must be decisively concluded before the Sheriff had a chance to deliver a mortal blow. “But how,” he wondered, “could this be done?”

Robin had often entertained the possibility of killing the Sheriff, but the chances for this seemed increasingly remote. Besides, while killing the Sheriff might satisfy his personal thirst for revenge, it would not improve the situation. Robin had hoped that the perpetual state of unrest, and the Sheriff’s failure to collect taxes, would lead to his removal from office. Instead, the Sheriff used his political connections to obtain reinforcement. He had powerful friends at court, and was well regarded by the regent, Prince John.

Prince John was vicious and volatile. He was consumed by his unpopularity among the people, who wanted the imprisoned King Richard back. He also lived in constant fear of the barons, who had first given him the regency, but were now beginning to dispute his claim to the throne. Several of these barons had set out to collect the ransom that would release King Richard the Lionheart from his jail in Austria. Robin was invited to join the conspiracy in return for future amnesty. It was a dangerous proposition. Provincial banditry was one thing, court intrigue another. Prince John’s spies were everywhere. If the plan failed, the pursuit would be relentless and retribution swift.

The sound of the supper horn startled Robin from his thoughts. There was the smell of roasting venison in the air. Nothing was resolved or settled. Robin headed for camp promising himself that he would give these problems his utmost attention after tomorrow’s raid.

11.1 Mock Dissertation Chapter One Introduction
Overview: As you observed in the LIVE session, there is a connection between chapter three and chapter one. Therefore, as an extension of our week in the mock chapter three from last week, we will write a mock chapter one. For the sake of preparation, we will be using the required headings from the University of the Cumberlands Dissertation Handbook. Like we discuss in class, each university has unique parameters for what they expect in chapter one, so you may see papers from other universities that look slightly different. The importance here is to focus on the content, not necessarily the organization. This assignment will help determine your readiness to write a full-length chapter one.
Directions:
1. Review the rubric and examples to make sure that you understand what is expected of you in this assignment.
a. Chapter One Samples.pdf Chapter One Samples.pdf – Alternative Formats
b. Rubric for Chapter One.docx Rubric for Chapter One.docx – Alternative Formats
2. Develop a 3-4 page (more is fine) mock chapter one to include the following expectations from the university:

o Overview (1-2 well developed paragraphs)
o Background and problem statement (1-2 well developed paragraphs)
o Purpose of the study (1 well developed paragraph)
o Significance of the study (1 well developed paragraph)
o Research Questions (numbered list)
o Limitations of the Study (1 short paragraph)
o Assumptions (1 short paragraph)
o Definitions (list)
o Summary (1 well developed paragraph)

By Day 7, submit your written assignment to the Week 2 Assignment Drop Box for Grading. Support your answers Essay college admissions essay help: college admissions essay help

By Day 7, submit your written assignment to the Week 2 Assignment Drop Box for Grading.

Support your answers with examples and research and cite your research using the APA format.

Review the Grading Rubric below to set up your paper accordingly.

For this assignment, you need to assume the role of either the buyer or the seller of an automobile. You will need to ask a friend, a spouse, or an associate to play the other role. Make sure you provide the details of the scenario and the vehicle to the person playing the other role and give the person sufficient time to review and prepare for the negotiation and give them the information on the vehicle that they are buying or selling. Participants on both sides may create other details as necessary to make the situation as lifelike as possible. Participants should presume that the negotiation is taking place in their town or local area.

Background Information:

Time to dream! What is your dream car? Look online and find a listing for a car that you would love to have. Review all of the details of the car in the listing (mileage, repairs, owners, etc).

The other details are as follows:

The vehicle seems mechanically sound except for the need for new brake pads and other routine maintenance.
The vehicle’s exterior appearance is clean with the exception of a scratch on the front bumper and three small dents on the passenger door (probably from other vehicles parked near the car having their doors opened and making contact with the car).
The vehicle’s interior appearance is also clean, with some wear and tear on the driver seat and two small spots on the carpet.
After reviewing the background information and the required analysis for your assignment submission, role-play the situation. The negotiation may occur in a single session or over multiple days. The more realistic the role-play, the more learning opportunity exists in the exercise. Video your role play negotiation and upload with your assignment. It will also be helpful to have this video to refer back to for your reflections.

After completing the role-play, provide a report of the negotiation.

( I will do the video!!) I just put that in there, so you know what the paper is referencing).
In the opening paragraph (introduction), provide a brief summary of the negotiation scenario (background, participants, etc.) so that anyone picking up the document would have basic familiarity with the case. Be sure to include the listing price and the features listed in the initial posting. Include a descriiption of the final outcome (e.g., purchase price and other details) in your introduction.

In the main paragraphs of your paper, address the following topics:

Analyze the preparation you completed for the negotiation event. What did you do to prepare? Include a brief assessment about what you could have done differently in the preparation phase to support your negotiation effort.
Assess the information exchange stage.
What information did you share?
What information did you withhold?
What did the other party share and withhold?
How did information sharing (or not sharing) impact the negotiation event?
What could you have done differently during information exchange to support your negotiation effort? Give a brief assessment.
Evaluate the problem-solving (or bargaining) phase.
Who made the first offer?
What were the initial positions?
What strategies were employed by the participants?
What interests surfaced during the negotiations?
How did all of those elements impact the negotiations?
What could you have done differently in the problem-solving stage to support your negotiation effort?
Analyze the resolution (or closure) phase.
What was the final outcome?
What other alternatives might have been available?
How did each party assess the outcome of the negotiation?
Be sure to conclude your paper with a summary of the key points of learning from your work. Send your video along with your paper.

Submission Details:

Based on your research, write succinct discussions of each of these items.
Present your work as a 3–4-page report in a Microsoft Word document formatted in APA style.
Support your responses with examples. Cite any sources in APA format.
The video must be submitted along with your written assignment.
Name your document BUSI 530_W2_LastName_FirstInitial.doc
Submit your document to the Week 2 Assignment Dropbox by Day 7.

The goal of the creative art project is to provide you with an opportunity to create an original work of essay help free: essay help free

The goal of the creative art project is to provide you with an opportunity to create an original work of art and show how much you learned in this class. You can choose any visual form or medium and show your creativity and imagination. You are required to submit a creative art project in order to pass the class in order to meet the University’s Foundations of Knowledge and Learning Core Curriculum Fine Arts requirement.  It is worth 18% of your final grade.  Make sure to carefully review the scoring rubric at the end of the syllabus for all required elements.

Step 1 – Choose an Artist

First, you need to choose an artist (painter, sculptor, photographer, etc.) whose work is interesting and inspiring to you. Do not copy his/her work but use it as a starting point for your project. For example, if you choose Boticelli’s The Birth of Venus, you may use the same mythological theme in a different medium such as sculpture, mosaic, or song.

Step 2 – Research

Research the time period of your artist.

Research the artist’s biography.

Research the artist’s techniques, ideas, and inspirations.

The more information you know about the artist, the better you will understand the work that inspired you to create your project. Select 1 work by this artist that you particularly admire. You will be required to submit an image of this artwork at the end of the semester along with the project itself.

Step 3 – Proposal

Decide on a medium (pain, clay, etc.).

Type your project proposal (about 400 words) including the following information:

Artist.

Artwork you have chosen.

The medium.

How you will show “the spirit” of the artist and the chosen artwork.

What social angle applies to the work

his week’s written activity is a three- part activity. You will respond to three separate prompts but prepare your paper as one research paper. Be sure to include at least one UC library source per prompt, in addition to your textbook (which means you’ll have at least 4 sources cited).

Start your paper with an introductory paragraph.

Prompt 1 “Data Warehouse Architecture” (2-3 pages): Explain the major components of a data warehouse architecture, including the various forms of data transformations needed to prepare data for a data warehouse. Also, describe in your own words current key trends in data warehousing.

Prompt 2 “Big Data” (2-3 pages): Describe your understanding of big data and give an example of how you’ve seen big data used either personally or professionally. In your view, what demands is big data placing on organizations and data management technology?

Prompt 3 “Green Computing” (2-3 pages):  One of our topics in Chapter 13 surrounds IT Green Computing. The need for green computing is becoming more obvious considering the amount of power needed to drive our computers, servers, routers, switches, and data centers. Discuss ways in which organizations can make their data centers “green”. In your discussion, find an example of an organization that has already implemented IT green computing strategies successfully. Discuss that organization and share your link. You can find examples in the UC Library.

Conclude your paper with a detailed conclusion section.

The paper needs to be approximately 7-10 pages long, including both a title page and a references page (for a total of 9-12 pages). Be sure to use proper APA formatting and citations to avoid plagiarism.

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

• Be approximately seven to ten pages in length, not including the required cover page and reference page.

• Follow APA7 guidelines. Your paper should include an introduction, a body with fully developed content, and a conclusion.

• Support your answers with the readings from the course, the course textbook, and at least three scholarly journal articles to support your positions, claims, and observations, in addition to your textbook. The UC Library is a great place to find supplemental resources.

• Be clearly and well-written, concise, and logical, using excellent grammar and style techniques. You are being graded in part on the quality of your writing.

Assignment 1: Applying Project Management Approaches for a Quality Improvement Practice Gap
Project management allows for a clear and focused workflow to approach an issue or task. You will have plenty of time to work on this essay in class AFTER spring break. Please do not worry about this assignment during spring break.

Using ONE of the three articles you have read and used for other assignments found within the article module write the RAE. The RAE, as you know from the RAE prompt in the book and week 6 readings, is an essay analyzing ONE of the articles and telling the editor of The Shorthorn whether or not you believe it should be published and why or why not. You will use the rhetorical appeals and talk about how the article could impact UTA students.

The following will help you to get an A on your RAE.

YOU MUST USE MLA formatting fully and correctly.

Paragraph 1: (Should include)

Opening statement to the editor such as, “As per your request, I analyzed “______article name________” written by ________authors name________.
“So what/Who cares” needs to happen within the first paragraph. So what is why are you telling us this, why is this important for readers to know. Who cares is who would care to read this paper.
Audience – You are talking to the editor about whether or not this article should be published in The Shorthorn. You need to directly talk about the impact of this article on UTA students and why this article should or shouldn’t be published.
Thesis – This is where you specifically state if the article should be published and give three reason why or not. Those three reasons will be each of your body paragraphs.
Paragraph 2-4: (Should include)

These paragraphs are about the logos, pathos, or ethos mixed all together based on the three reasons you gave within the thesis.
Each paragraph should start with a topic sentence and the topic sentence tells the reader exactly what the paragraph is about. Your topic sentences come directly from your thesis.
Each paragraph should be 5 sentences.
Each paragraph should give at least one sentence about how students would benefit or react to the article you chose to analyze.
Paragraph 5

Naysayer – A person or persons that would disagree with your articles author or with your assessment of the article.
This paragraph should start with who the naysayer is and what they may believe. Something like, “Other readers of The Shorthorn may say that even a poorly written article has benefits, but I say…” or “Strict climate change majors may say this article doesn’t go far enough, but I say…”
Paragraph 6

Conclusion – This is where most students lose points because they don’t know what to do.
This should include a recap of the paper without giving exact word for word retelling. Something like, “Throughout the paper I have shown why this article should/should not be publish by _________, _______, ________…”
Then wrap up the essay with a question or thanking the editor for their time and hoping you can critique more in the future or whatever.
This essay is not a letter, so do not sign the essay.
You can also schedule and go to the Writing Center. If you do choose to go to the writing center you will get an additional 5 extra points on your final draft.

The agency’s previous D and I training or workshops in terms of cultural awareness, human relations, communications, group dynamics, cross-functionality, TQM, cross-teaming, or whatever other buzzes, fads, fashions, or flops the agency administration has dealt out along with your opinion of their success. Has there been a train-the-trainers strategy to develop an internal core of materials and instructors? If this is not public knowledge then ask the question in the interviews.

Any complaints against the agency by employees, customers, visitors, etc., particularly any EEO complaints, levels of sexual or racial harassment, lawsuits, etc.

Review the atmosphere from the top down. Is there a climate of discrimination or hatred set by the top management? What examples have been set by previous top administrators? Has there been any news exposes, news stories, or bad press about the organization? What internal and external public images are there?

The agency’s community partnerships. What linkages, support, charitable contributions, nonprofit organizations, spinoffs, mergers, affiliates, etc. does the agency connect with? Is there a demonstrated pattern of support for minorities in the organization as well as in the community? Has there been a demographic profile made of the local community to sense the needs of the citizenry? Are employees allowed to speak out in newspapers, magazines, speaking engagements?

Assessment Descriiption 1. A patient is classified as having gestational diabetes if their glucose level is above 140 milligrams Essay best college essay help: best college essay help

Assessment Descriiption
1. A patient is classified as having gestational diabetes if their glucose level is above 140 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl) one hour after a sugary drink is ingested. Rebecca’s doctor is concerned that she may suffer from gestational diabetes. There is variation both in the actual glucose level and in the blood test that measures the level. Rebecca’s measured glucose level one hour after ingesting the sugary drink varies according to the Normal distribution with μ= 140 X mg/dl and σ = X 1 mg/dl, where X is 8829. What is the probability of Rebecca being diagnosed with gestational diabetes if her glucose level is measured:

Once?
X 1 times, where X is 8829?
X 4 times, where X is 8829?
Comment on the relationship between the probabilities observed in (a), (b), and (c). Explain, using concepts from lecture why this occurs and what it means in context.

2. Suppose next that we have even less knowledge of our patient, and we are only given the accuracy of the blood test and prevalence of the disease in our population. We are told that the blood test is 9X percent reliable, gestational diabetes affects X 1 percent of the population in our patient’s age group, and that our test has a false positive rate of X 4 percent. Compute the following quantities based on this new information:

If 100,000 people take the blood test, how many people that test positive will actually have gestational diabetes?
What is the probability of having the disease given that you test positive?
If 100,000 people take the blood test, how many people that test negative despite actually having gestational diabetes?
What is the probability of having the disease given that you tested negative?
Comment on what you observe in the above computations. How does the prevalence of the disease affect whether the test can be trusted?

3. As we have seen in class, hypothesis testing and confidence intervals are the most common inferential tools used in statistics. Imagine that you have been tasked with designing an experiment to determine reliably if a patient should be diagnosed with diabetes based on their blood test results. Create a short outline of your experiment, including all of the following:

1. A detailed discussion of your experimental design.
2. How is randomization used in your sampling or assignment strategy?
3. The type of inferential test utilized in your experiment.
4. A formal statement of the null and alternative hypothesis for your test.
5. A confidence interval for estimating the parameter in your test.
6. An interpretation of your p-value and confidence interval, including what they mean in context of your experimental design
