ENG 102
Essay III Creative Project (150 pts total)
Dr. Sarah Creel

.
Due Dates:
Friday, April 8th by 11:59 pm, Artist’s Statement Due on Blackboard
Wednesday, April 13th, Creative Project Due
Friday, April 15th by 11:59 pm, Reflection Due on Blackboard

What is the creative project?
This is a chance for you to take your creative skills and put them to good use, plus, it’s a nice (and probably welcome) departure from the standard MLA format essay.

A creative project takes one text we have read thus far and turns it into an adaptation made for 2022. For example:

You might turn “A Worn Path” into a digital painting of Phoenix Jackson in Walmart trying to find the pharmacy
You might adapt “Tintern Abbey” into a recorded pop song or dance using the conventions of current day music and choreography
You might take “A Family Supper” and stage a series of digital photographs of a family having dinner in a sushi restaurant
You might use Imovie to film the epiphany moment from “The Story of an Hour” but translate it into a Real Housewives moment
You might use Instagram or TikTok to record the reactions of Laura Sheridan in “The Garden Party”
You might translate the muffin scene from Act II of “The Importance of Being Earnest” into a comic strip or Japanese-style manga
You might create a website (using a template service) for “The Odour of Chrysanthemums” in which Elizabeth posts “wanted” posters and information about Walter being lost in Birmingham drinking establishments, when really he’s killed in a Highway 280 construction accident.

These are simply a few ideas for you; the possibilities are endless, and if you have a question about your idea, feel free to reach out to me! I’m happy to let you know if you are on the right track.

Project Components

I.Artist’s Statement (50 pts)
Because this course isn’t actually intended to evaluate your iMovie skills, each creative project will be accompanied by an Artist’s Statement of 1.5-2 pages. In this artist’s statement, you should explain the connections you see amongst your work, your chosen text/author, and the major literary terms and concepts associated with the text/author.
This artist’s statement can be somewhat informal in tone (I expect that most will be written in the first person), but it should be clear, well-organized, and carefully copy-edited.
A well-conceived artist’s statement will adhere to the following format:
oA detailed overview of what the project IS, including why you chose the medium you are using
oA carefully conceived overview of what literary and artistic elements you have chosen and why you have chosen them

.Doc or .docx files, or .pdf are the only acceptable file formats!

II.The Project Itself (75 Points)

An effective creative project will create a new text that:
Reaches a modern (2022) audience,
Accurately and faithfully translates a text,
Uses creativity to analyze the text and explain relevant literary terms

Your creative project will need to reflect the knowledge that you have gained in this course about how to analyze and apply literary terms.

For example, let’s say you choose to create a series of TikTok videos from Laura’s perspective in “The Garden Party.” You will need to incorporate literary terms like “epiphany” and focus on concepts we have covered, such a social class.

The creative project should NOT be hastily conceived or thrown together: remember, this is 150 points of your final grade! Time, effort, and thought are important!

III.The Reflection (25 points)
Your reflection is a 1-2 page, MLA formatted essay that answers the following questions in paragraph format:

What the finished creative project turned out to be
How you feel the creative project turned out—did you meet your goals? Did you successfully translate a text into a new format meant for a 2022 audience?
What went wrong/could have been better with the creative project?

Also if you could do write about something like via drawing someone just on the top of the dome because I’m an art major and I need to work on this piece atm so I don’t have time to write this essay! You only have to do the number 1 and 3 I can do the project in itself

Oscar Wilde N’ Out Artist Statement
I.Detailed Overview
For this project, I have decided to create an Oscar Wilde “diss track.” A diss track is a song that responds to “hate” from another artist or from fans/haters of an artist. During Oscar Wilde’s time, he received a lot of hate from Victorian artists and members of society for his publication of The Picture of Dorian Gray. Dorian Gray is a very close look at the fatal flaws of the titular character, Dorian. The novel includes quite a bit of what Victorian society deemed blasphemous, including homosexual love interests, binge drinking and drug usage, etc. Wilde saw his novel as a commentary on this behavior (as evidenced by Dorian’s portrait’s decline as his morality declines), but Victorian culture classified it as immoral and over-the-top. As a response, Wilde wrote a preface to The Picture of Dorian Gray that talks about the role of art to call out society’s ills. My project is an adaptation of the preface in that I have turned the preface into a “diss track” music video in which I rap Wilde’s response to his haters. I chose this medium because I think it’s the perfect 2022 version of Wilde’s preface. Rappers often respond to their haters in the form of lyrics that take a critical look at the reasons behind the hate. This is exactly what Wilde is doing in his preface.
II.Literary and Artistic Elements
As a film student, I am in good place to film this music video. One of the artistic elements I want to focus on is the “tone” of the piece. Tone is the way that authors portray the general feeling of a text. In The Preface, Wilde is very angry with his detractors. He doesn’t understand why they can’t see that his art can actually call out the wrongs of society instead of promoting them. I will use darkness and light within the music video to show the battle of good vs. evil. I will also dress myself as Oscar Wilde and embody the attitude of the author. He was clearly upset and demoralized by the way that society treated him and his writing. My demeanor in the music video will reflect this, as I will be sitting in front of a fireside brooding about what has happened, which will promote a general feeling of interiority (interior monologue). Within the lyrics of the song, I will include many references to Wilde’s literary period of Victorianism. Furthermore, my own audience will have a better understanding of The Preface through my explanation of various literary terms and concepts within my lyrics.

d) Do you agree with this response to question “c”; “What, if any, additional actions should Isaac take at this point?

Personally, he must just sit down with Hannah and tell her about his concerns of not “putting all the cards on the table” by not reporting the entire sales analysis, her uncle ties to the deal, and the problem this inaccurate deal would cause to her, the team, and the company. Perhaps, make a team meeting to analyze the numbers and make an accurate and well informed managerial accounting decision before moving forward with the new line of hair care products deal.”

Read abd answer the questions Assignment 5 Smith’s Home Hardware is a successful Arizona based retail operation, realizing significant profits from its retail hardware stores. Smith’s creates a essay help: essay help

Smith’s creates a subsidiary (“Alixco”) by contributing $70 million of capital. The contribution of capital includes: $15 million of inventory, $15 million of CD’s, a $10 million office building in Missouri, and patents on high-tech power tools worth $30 million. Alixco’s offices are entirely in Missouri. Alixco will manufacture and sell power tools to the construction industry. In 2001, Alixco realizes income as follows: tool sales $100 million, interest on commercial CD’s $50,000, rent from 9 floors of its 10-story office building $1.5 million, and royalty income of $3 million from overseas licensing of its tool patents. Total business deductions for the year are $85 million.
Alixco hires a president in Missouri. Officers of Smith’s Home Hardware make up the balance of the Board of Directors and Officers. Smith’s internal accounting staff in Arizona maintains the books. A CPA firm in Missouri prepares annual financial statements. The only assets held by Alixco are those mentioned above, plus a newly constructed manufacturing plant in New Mexico and another newly constructed plant across the border in Mexico.
The $15 million of CD’s and $10 million office building were acquired with funds available from retail hardware store operations. Smith’s Home Hardware and Alixco file a consolidated federal tax return. Smith’s Home Hardware files a separate California tax return from Alixco. During 2001, Smith’s Home Hardware received $2 million in dividends from Alixco, which was used to expand existing retail stores. Outside of the original contribution of inventory, there are no intercompany sales. However, approximately 20% of Alixco’s purchases are handled by Smith’s purchasing agents.
Smith’s Home Hardware realized net income in 2001 of $40 million, which was apportioned 75% to Arizona and 25% to California. Smith’s filed a separate return in California for 2001. The California Franchise Tax Board has audited Smith’s Home Hardware and concluded that Smith’s and Alixco should be members of a unitary group filing a combined California tax return. The auditor added the Alixco net business income into the combined return, resulting in a California tax increase of $300,000.
Based on the above, answer the questions described below. Please make sure to include citations to appropriate authorities.
1.     Please defend Alixco’s non-unitary tax filing position.
2.     How should the items of income for each company be characterized between business and non-business income? Please prepare your response assuming the auditor has prepared his audit report based on the MTC regulations.
3.      Describe how sales of Alixco into California would be apportioned on the combined Missouri tax return and how sales of Alixco into California would be apportioned on the combined California corporate tax return (assuming California follows the “Finnigan” rule). Why?

This assignment presents another “What would you do?” scenario that necessitates ethical reasoning. Though it might seem a bit far-fetched, we often encounter similar situations. This assignment clarifies the importance of one’s ethical frameworks and demonstrates how different might be our decisions when operating under different ethical frameworks.

This assignment supports the following unit objectives:

Explain the main features of the ethical theories of Ruth Benedict and James Rachels, Plato, Aristotle, Kant, and Mill.
Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of ethical relativism, ethical egoism, virtue ethics, deontological ethics, utilitarianism, and other major ethical theories discussed.
Tasks

Read the following thought experiment from Philippa Foot and then write an essay that answers the questions that follow:

“Let us consider […] a pair of cases which I shall call Rescue I and Rescue II. In the first Rescue story we are hurrying in our jeep to save some people – let there be five of them – who are imminently threatened by the ocean tide. We have not a moment to spare, so when we hear of a single person who also needs rescuing from some other disaster we say regretfully that we cannot rescue him, but must leave him to die. To most of us this seems clear […]. This is Rescue I and with it I contrast Rescue II. In this second story we are again hurrying to the place where the tide is coming in in order to rescue the party of people, but this time it is relevant that the road is narrow and rocky. In this version the lone individual is trapped (do not ask me how) on the path. If we are to rescue the five we would have to drive over him. But can we do so? If we stop he will be all right eventually: he is in no danger unless from us. But of course all five of the others will be drowned. As in the first story our choice is between a course of action which will leave one man dead and five alive at the end of the day and a course of action which will have the opposite result. (Philippa Foot, “Killing and Letting Die,” from Abortion and Legal Perspectives, eds. Garfield and Hennessey, 2004, University of Massachusetts Press)

What would Mill tell the rescuer to do, in Rescue I and Rescue II, according to his theory of utilitarianism? Be clear in explaining Mill’s recommendation, and how he would justify it. In doing so, you must include a discussion of the following:

The Principle of Utility and how it would specifically apply in this situation—who gets “counted” and how?
What would Kant tell the rescuer to do, in Rescue I and Rescue II, according to his deontological theory? Be clear in explaining Kant’s recommendation and how he would justify it. In doing so, you must include a discussion of the following:
The first version of the Categorical Imperative and how it would specifically apply in these two situations (hint, you have to say what the maxim would be and what duty would be generated according to it).

The second version of the Categorical Imperative and how it would specifically apply in this situation.

Explain one criticism of both Mill and Kant. Afterward, argue for which ethical approach, on your view is superior. Be specific and provide reasons for your claim.

If they made more movies similar to Alice with talking bunnies and such, they would all be in the make-believe category. One example for the future of films would be to incorporate more CGI into motion pictures. Another example would be to have more animals that talk as well as sing and mimic the emotion of a human. Yet one more example would be to incorporate more intense stunts into films.
(2)
Although I was momentarily confused on what serious make believe is. I quickly found out it’s essentially fiction. The best example I could think of is the Twilight Zone. The Twilight Zone was a Sci-Fi television show from 1959. The show was also considered science fiction horror. The episodes usually consisted of a story dealing with problems with seemingly impossible twists. What are the scariest episodes I can remember consists of a lady arriving at a store and attempting to buy a thimble. After not being able to find any staff, she notices the mannequins in the store are not where they were before. Later she realizes they’re after her. The reasoning behind the mannequins being after her was shocking to say the least.
Another good example of a serious make believe is the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. An inventor figures out how to make it rain food. This is a good example because I’ve never met a single person that wouldn’t want this to happen.

Individually, review following scenario and respond to all five of the questions listed below. Number your answers. Ms. Henry Essay best essay help: best essay help

Individually, review following scenario and respond to all five of the questions listed below.
Number your answers.

Ms. Henry is a 70 year old woman who has been seeing you for relationship conflict with her adult daughter who is diagnosed with substance use disorder, and her adult son who suffers from depression. Her husband died 10 years ago when he was 65. You have worked with Ms. Henry for 16 sessions and the therapy is coming to a close. She has made some good progress. She has cut ties with her daughter, which was difficult but necessary, due to numerous altercations and theft by the daughter, of Ms. Henry’s property. It was initially difficult for her to let go of this relationship because she felt guilty, but with your support and law enforcement’s intervention in the last altercation Ms. Henry feels this is the best thing she can do for herself and her daughter.

She still gets “caught up in her son’s depression,” in that she worries about him and sometimes overextends herself but she has learned a lot in the sessions about the difference in loving and enabling. She still catches herself, “trying to get him to go to therapy,” but she does this significantly less and stops herself more quickly when she does find herself “in his drama,” as she has come to identify it.

Ms. Henry attends Sunday school weekly and church. She has some supportive friends, though some of her friends have been ill, and one died recently. She volunteers at the library and loves to read.

You have two more sessions with Ms. Henry and at your last session you informed her that therapy would be ending soon, as her insurance does not allow for more sessions and she has accomplished much of her stated goals. At the end of the last session, Ms. Henry became very quiet. As she was leaving she stated, “I don’t know what I will do without you. You have helped me so much. You have been more like a child to me than my own children.”

Given this information, come up with a plan for termination from therapy with Ms. Henry. Be specific.

1. How will you address your work together, with Ms. Henry?

2. How will you plan for maintenance and future concerns?

3. How will you address her feelings of ending?

4. How will you construct the final sessions?

5. Come to a consensus on how you would terminate with this client.

Bloomberg University must reduce their budget reduction of $6,500,000 for next year, representing about 6% of this year’s state cheap essay help

Bloomberg University must reduce their budget reduction of $6,500,000 for next year, representing about 6% of this year’s state allocation, caused by the expected loss of foreign student enrollment next semester.

You and your cabinet members must decide, position by position, who will be fired or not rehired, constrained by the faculty governance rules regarding tenure, the collective bargaining rules derived from the agreed upon labor relations contracts, and civil service rules and regulations, which have been simplified for the exercise. You may also wish to include revenue enhancements, limited to 1% of the state budget allocation, but you must support your belief that revenue can be increased.

A major focus of the exercise will be to ensure that you calculate reductions more or less accurately (however, this is not a math quiz) and to determine how you and your fellow cabinet members make your choices with respect to what you are told about the college, its academic programs, strategic plan, the results of student and employee satisfaction surveys, a concise income and expense budget, tuition, fee, and revenue budget, some academic metrics comparing your college data for two years with data averaged from among a group of peer institutions, and some enrollment management data. Your goals and values will shine brightly as a result of your decisions. This will not be a pretty exercise, but it will give you a taste of how decisions are made in bad times.

The documents include:
1) ALL detailed payroll for the institution, w/o names. Payroll is organized by “major purposes” such as Instruction, Instructional Support, Adult and Continuing Education, Library, Student Services, General Administration, General Institutional Services, and Maintenance and Operations. Within each category are individual departments where appropriate (e.g.: payroll, budgeting, etc. for GAs; while library has only one department).
As we did on the first day of class, you may move the departments around at your pleasure to suit the way you and your team members’ role-playing cabinet members choose. For example, if you want Registrar to report to the Provost you may move it and all related expenses to Instructional Support from Student Services. This will enable you to visualize the area you are responsible for, and make recommendations accordingly.

2) A concise budget showing collapsed expenses for people you pay and things you buy.
3) Enrollment management data on incoming students (demographic, testing results, etc.)
4) A survey of student attitudes about your college compared to answers from peer institutions
5) Your tuition and fee income showing who pays what along with other revenue sources
6) Some academic metrics that are used by accrediting agencies, rating and ranking organizations, etc. to track your progress and compare you to peers.
7) A general overview of Bloomberg University of the college, including its Mission statement, academic program offerings, degrees granted, majors/minors and department listings. –
8) A brief version of the Bloomberg University’s Strategic Plan.

How your team will decide what to reduce, or to increase, will speak to the limits of administrative flexibility, consensual decision making, collaborative problem solving, and leadership.

of military veterans after deployment with respect to PTSD, post-traumatic growth, and social support best college essay help

This literature review (with an abstract) needs to be a summary of previous results of at least 8 other papers that came out of the same data set examined by Currier, Erbes, Frankfurt, James, and Mattson. (All papers are attached.) This data set has been examined across three time points covered by these 8 papers, starting in 2007 (Erbes). This literature review does not have to be more than 5000 words. I would like it to establish and summarize the predictors of PTSD and the predictors of post-traumatic growth at time point 1 (might need tables for these), along with the variables of interest, and 2 or 3 hypotheses for later time points. Lastly, I would like to address future directions for reasons of change. Other resources beyond the attached papers are fine.

Use the appropriate descriptive statistics from W2 Project or run new descriptive statistics for Recall1 using Microsoft Excel. essay help site:edu

Use the appropriate descriptive statistics from W2 Project or run new descriptive statistics for Recall1 using Microsoft Excel.

Assuming that the sample statistics you computed are exactly equivalent to the corresponding population parameters, and using the formula X = (±z)(sd) M (see below) identify the following:

The exact score on Recall1 that would fall at the upper 5% cutoff (extremely high score?) (Be sure to use the formula given below and round to two decimal places)

The exact score on Recall1 that would fall at the lower 5% cutoff (extremely low score?) (Be sure to use the formula given below and round to two decimal places)

To find these hypothetical scores, solve for X (your raw score) using the following formula, and round to two decimal places:

X = (±z)(sd) M, where

z = The z-score cutoff for 5 percent in the tail (±1.645)

sd = Your sample standard deviation for Recall1

M = Your sample mean for Recall1

Use Microsoft Excel to compute z-scores for Recall1, following the instructions given in your lecture. Copy the table below into your Microsoft Word document, and complete the table, indicating the appropriate z-scores corresponding to each of the participants whose score is given.

By continuing to use the company that you adopted in ACC 6109 (I choose Target so I will continue with that company), you will apply the technical competence and other skills required by today’s CPAs. Through case-study analysis, you will develop skills such as communication, presentation, and interpersonal relations in conjunction with technical accounting knowledge.

ACC 620: Financial Reporting II is a continuation of ACC 610. In ACC 620, your focus in the final project will be on developing skills in critical thinking and applying accounting theories and practices, according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). You will be analyzing situations and communicating results to decision makers with an emphasis on stockholders’ equity, income measurement, income taxes, pensions, leases, and statements of changes in financial positions.

Stockholders’ Equity
Determine how your company got its initial financial start in terms of debt (liabilities) or equity (capital). Support your response.
Analyze the equity section of your company’s balance sheet as compared to your company’s industry average. Rate the company’s performance against its competitors.
Review your company’s dividend policy and its history. Based on the information, discuss the trends over the past year.
Income Measurement/Revenue Recognition
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) came together on a unified project to outline the accounting principles for recognizing revenue and to develop a common revenue standard for U.S. GAAP and IFRS. Research IAS-18, Revenue, and discuss how it would apply to your company.
Review your company’s revenue over the past two years. Analyze the change in revenue (increase/decrease) and give the reasons for this change.
Reflecting upon your company’s balance sheet, identify the unearned revenue accounts listed. How does your company handle the proper accounting treatment with regard to recognizing revenue from unearned revenue accounts?
For additional details, please refer to the Milestone One Guidelines and Rubric PDF document.

Greetings Class!!!

This week you have two class assignments which include the Cengage CNOW assignments and the beginning of Milestone One- Stockholders’ Equity and Revenue Recognition.

There are seven key areas that I will be focusing on so make sure you review the Rubric Guidelines for Milestone One located within Module 3 Learning Module. When writing make sure you support all your information. Remember, you are researching your company this means you are analyzing situations and communicating your results to decision-makers- which means every item should be reviewed.

Just a few reminders the assignment should be in Microsoft Word. The assignment should also be completed using APA format which includes double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins with at least three cited sources. Your Turnitin report- the goal should be 20% or below.

Looking forward to seeing some great research on the company each of you have selected.

As early into the semester as possible, but by no later than October 6th (progress report #2) you will need to identify two (2) professionals (no immediate family members – i.e. no parents or siblings) in the field(s) you would like to matriculate into upon graduation. I would encourage you to reach out to UC alumni or other connections that are likely to share their experiences with you.

You will need to interview these experienced professionals to help you craft the majority of this portion of your paper. You will complete two progress reports due on September 7th and October 6th, which may be graded pass/repeat. Kel is a 42-year-old certified public accountant (CPA) who dreams each year that she will board a cruise ship argumentative essay help: argumentative essay help

Kel is a 42-year-old certified public accountant (CPA) who dreams each year that she will board a cruise ship the day after Tax Day and go somewhere, anywhere, except Portsmouth, Virginia. Each year the dream, like the ocean, ebbs and flows, but this year she is not even going to think about such a “ridiculous idea.” In fact, she does not even have the energy to dream; getting out of bed and preparing to go to work is simply too labor intensive.

Each evening Kel retires to bed with a lack of energy to complete her normal tasks such as readying her clothes for work and making a lunch. She lacks the energy to shop in the evening; consequently, she eats mostly crackers and canned soup. She is not hungry, and her scale reflects this. She has lost 15 pounds over the last 2 months. She does not attend to her makeup or clothes; she finds both too taxing. The clothes she selects are drab and not ironed. At work she makes no effort to talk with her co-workers and does not initiate new contacts with clients. The normal work of filing taxes and writing reports, which she used to enjoy, are overwhelming, and she feels too disorganized to complete them. Telephone calls and e-mail messages from friends are ignored. Attendance at work is spotty.

Sue, her sister, becomes alarmed with Kel’s unanswered telephone calls and e-mails. Worried, she decides to visit her sister at home. She finds the apartment unclean and in disarray. Kel is unkempt, disheveled, and looks sad. Her voice is monotone and flat. Kel tells Sue that she feels “sad and hopeless. Nothing is ever going to change. I am a bad person and I can’t even do my work right. Although I sleep for many hours, I am still tired all the time.” Sue is alarmed at the changes in her sister and arranges for Kel to visit a health care worker at the medical clinic.

Select a policy maker: Tell us to whom you would address your question. You can select one of the policy makers or advocates featured in Detained (e.g., Leon Pineta, Carol Meisner, etc.), one of our local and national politicians (Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, Jackie Speier, Bernie Sanders, etc.) or another relevant federal politician.

Frame your question: Using one of the readings or media from class this week (or an alternate source of your choice), lay out a concern of yours with at least one piece of evidence (e.g., privatization of immigration detention centers, child separations, criminalization of immigrants, etc.)

Address the past actions or positions of your respondent: Using a news testimony from the Detained documentary; testimony from a news report; or text from the policy maker’s own website, twitter feed, bills or other documents restate a position or action that they’ve taken in the past or currently hold with respect to your concern.

Does learning about an incident such impact any of your future behavior? Why or why not? You may consult outside sources to help inform your understanding of the general themes/ideas, but you do not need to.

No citations are needed, either. Most of your time and energy should be devoted to the third section.
