Through my career in the beauty industry there have been many failed products. The most memorable being the dimple college essay help online

Through my career in the beauty industry there have been many failed products. The most memorable being the dimple maker. The dimple maker was created by Isabella Gilbert in the 1930’s. This was a metal contraption that was placed across the face. The device had two knobs that poke into your cheeks as you smile. The instructions were to wear the dimple maker for two to three times per day for five minutes at a time. The steps of the innovation process which failure occurred is the development and implementation of the new product. The American Medical Association found that the dimple maker had ties to cancer after prolonged use, and there was no proof that it worked. The failure is a result of the product not being properly and thoroughly tested prior to entering the market. Innovations are challenges, characterized by uncertainty, risks, and complexity. However taking a risk which involves consumer health is not a innovative business move.

This product was a new creation, but it was designed to fail from the start. The company did create a product that the consumers wanted. this was proven by the customer purchases and product sales. But the outcomes were not satisfying. This was at a time before customer review were made public. Therefore the product failure was not supported until the medical facts were proven. In this instance of the product being harmful, it would be beneficial for the product to be tested and reviewed by willing participants before marketing to consumers. This would prevent such spectacular product failures. To create a robust innovation process a company must first create a clear and concrete plan that includes alternative back-up plans in case of failure.
