Topic given: Why are cortisone-like steroids effective in treating diseases?

PART 1
Many people go to a doctor’s appointment and end up getting different kinds of medications and usually don’t know what they are receiving. Corticosteroids are a type of medication that many doctors give to their patients for treating certain diseases. Corticosteroids can treat inflammation caused by many chronic inflammatory diseases, but they are not very effective in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (Barnes, P., 2006). This type of medication helps by suppressing the inflammatory genes/proteins that are related to certain diseases while still being a safe drug to take (Barnes, P., 2006). Every disease has different ways of hurting the body, but many tend to have inflammation associated with it which causes other problems in the body. Not every disease is the same and the inflammation patterns differ between them because of the different cells and mediators that are involved (Barnes, P., 2006).

Many people like myself, do not like to take medications because of their many side effects, but this medication is said to be very effective and safer than other drugs which can put people like me at ease (Barnes, P., 2006). There are some side effects of these drugs related to suppressing certain genes along with other things, but tests reveal that those side effects have not been found in everyone who takes these drugs, and they are not as common (Barnes, P., 2006). I compromise on medications if that medicine has more pros than cons and if it will help me more than hurt me. By taking this type of medication the inflammation is reduced and the pain is reduced along with it.

PART 2

Corticosteroids are synthetic medications that mimic the effects of cortisol hormone which is naturally produced in the body. Corticosteroids are widely used drugs and their effectiveness and profiles have been extensively researched in many clinical trials. These drugs are highly effective in treating inflammatory and immune diseases in which corticosteroids function by decreasing inflammation and suppressing the activity of the immune system (Williams,2018). Cortisone-like steroids reduce inflammation in various ways. Firstly, cortisone-like steroids work by binding on body cells. After the passage of corticosteroids through the cell membrane, cortisone-like steroids react with receptor proteins to create a steroid-receptor complex which moves to the nucleus and binds with the DNA(Williams,2018). After binding on receptor cells, the cell sends signals to the brain to reduce the production of proteins and other cells that increase inflammation and activities of the immune system. Additionally, corticosteroids increase the production of anti-inflammatory proteins and inhibit certain genes in body cells to stimulate the production of anti-inflammatory pathways. These processes result in immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory and anti-mitogenic impacts, demonstrating why corticosteroids are highly effective in treating inflammatory and immune diseases.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is one of the diseases that is treated using cortisone-like steroids. Several studies have demonstrated that corticosteroids are more effective when compared to placebo drugs in reducing inflammation in arthritis. Inhaled corticosteroids are also highly effective in treating asthma. According to Heffler et al. (2018), corticosteroids enhance lung functions, prevent exacerbations, and suppress inflammation in patients with asthma. Corticosteroids are also effective in treating seasonal and severe allergic reactions in which corticosteroids function by reducing the activities of a highly reactive immune system, reducing inflammation, and preventing itchy and running nose.

Deeper and longer-lasting learning is developed through personal reflection and self-appraisal (Zubizarreta, 2009). Reflection is a process of examining and interpreting experience to gain new understanding. This reflective journal is assigned as development for your Global Leadership Development Plan at the end of the semester. Focus your reflections on the connections you make between what you have learned and your own opinions, experiences, and life events. Ultimately, self-reflection and dialogue with yourself will result in insights as to: • how and why you think the way you do about leadership, especially global leadership • what actions you took or what choices you made while you were learning the new content • what those actions or choices really meant to you in your personal and professional life • what learning and growth has occurred • how you can change your practices in the future • your changing belief regarding your role as a leadership professional • experiences, ideas, and observations you have had, and how they relate to the course or content • what you found confusing, inspiring, difficult, interesting—and why • lingering questions you have about the content you are learning • how you solved a problem, reached a conclusion, found an answer, or reached a point of understanding What kind of writing style is expected for the Reflection Journal assignments? As it concerns your thoughts, reflective writing is mostly subjective. Therefore, in addition to being reflective and logical, you can be personal, hypothetical, critical, and creative. You can comment based on your experience, rather than limiting yourself to academic evidence. Reflective writing is an activity that includes description (what, when, who) and analysis (how, why, what if). It is an explorative tool often resulting in more questions than answers. However, this is a graded, academic assignment. Use full sentences and complete paragraphs. The paper you upload should not be a first draft, freewriting assignment. The use of freewriting to generate the first draft is highly encouraged, but then read your paper critically, make sure the organization of your ideas make sense and accurately reflect the kind of growth and personal development you are looking for. Unlike academic research writing, you may absolutely use personal pronouns like I, my, or we. However, please keep colloquial language to a minimum (i.e. kids, guys, stuff).

This watercolor and oil on paper work by Paul Klee, entitled “They’re Biting,” 1920, shows a cartoon style scenario of a boy fishing with his dad. The boy has caught a fish, a larger fish is about to take the hook of the father’s line. Following the lines from the fishing rods is a little bit like games found in children’s puzzle books, where the loops and curves must be traced from one symbol to another. Amongst the symbols for fish we also find two recognisable typographic symbols in the full-stop and the exclamation mark. These represent methods of indicating much larger concepts, such as conclusion and surprise, in a very simple abstract way. The exclamation is above a fish that is big enough to swallow both father and son. And what do fish do: big fish eat little fish. A series of events have been set in motion that will reach a final conclusion with the big fish being caught by one of the fishers. The ratio will be reversed and the struggle to land the catch could go ‘either way’. Could this be seen as a metaphor for a child becoming an adult, the evolution from childhood to manhood? Why do you think the artist chose to paint the lines faintly rather than emphatically? Do you think this lends a childlike quality to the overall work? Must be at least 500 words and have 3 citations minimum ALL FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES.

The topic I chose was Cardiology

For Part 1 of your assignment, you wrote a recommendation memorandum to the CEO and Senior Vice Presidents, providing a formal evidence-based recommendation for your selected programmatic service or enhancement, along with a formal request for organizational support.

Let’s assume that the MHS leadership has given you the authority to move forward with your selected service or programmatic enhancement. This week, in Part 2 of your finance project, you will apply all you have been learning this term to write a capital budget. Be sure to review the financial statements found in the MHS case study. Complete every component of the capital budget and ensure your proposed budget fits well within the MHS budget information provided.

Capital Budget Process:

Narrative:

Identify the desired goal and alternatives.

Explain your budget and decisions once your spreadsheet for your Capital Budget is completed.
Reintroduce the service/unit you are recommending in no more than 1-2 sentences. Then provide a 2-3 paragraph budget narrative to justify the budgeting decisions you made.
In an Excel Spreadsheet:

Set up a Capital Budget for your selected service or programmatic enhancement. You must include all of the following elements in your budget. To ensure success, go through these methodically one at a time. If you have questions, contact me or post a question in the discussion for the entire class.
Estimate output, output prices, and revenues, including when cash will be received.
Identify the type and quantity of resources needed, input prices, and when expenses will be paid.
Select a discount rate. See your FAQ’s and module notes for your options. Specifically, you will decide which discount rate to use based on what you know about the MHS case and the programmatic service/enhancement you are proposing.
Once you have chosen your discount rate, calculate the PV of future cash flows using an Excel spreadsheet. Do your calculations in a new tab in the current sheet and then input the number into your budget. This way I can provide guidance on your work.

Fire Behavior Essay cheap essay help: cheap essay help

Fire dynamics can provide a fire officer or a firefighter with means to understand how a fire will grow and spread within a structure and how best to control that growth. Researchers have generated experimental results and computer models to explain how fire dynamics taken at the most basic level, the fire triangle, applies to the fire ground. This paper will provide a brief overview of the research that demonstrates the impact that changes in fuel and construction methods have had on the fire environment. These changes have altered the model of fire behavior taught to the fire service for decades. In addition, firefighter protective equipment has also changed over the years. All these factors lead to an assessment that fire-fighting tactics may need to evolve in order to keep in balance with the changing conditions on the fire ground.

Adult learning Essay a level english language essay help

Effective professional development events, such as webinars, should follow adult learning principles to engage learners. Adult learning theory began almost 200 years ago. However, it wasn’t until recently that the concepts were fully incorporated into mainstream adult education practices. Adult learning theory asks the question, “What factors impact adult learning and why?” To answer that, let’s explore the three domains of learning and how they relate to adult learning theory. These are:

Cognitive learning
Affective learning, and
Psychomotor, or behavioral, learning
The cognitive learning domain involves intellect—the understanding of information and how that develops through application on a scale that increases from basic recall to complex evaluation and creation.

The affective learning domain involves our emotions toward learning and how that develops as we progress from a low order process, such as listening, to a higher order process, like resolving an issue.

The psychomotor learning domain involves our physicality and how that develops from basic motor skills to intricate performance.

In week 1 we discuss adult learning domains. As a Fire Service Instructor, you will provide various methods of teaching for a reason. Describe the three adult learning domains and challenges you may face as an instructor satisfying the adult learner. Provide solutions to those challenges. Use the ideas in the textbook to assist.

Choose a topic covered in this course and write a short literature review (1 or 2 pages, no more than 2 pages). The topic can be broad, such as “the first law of Geography”, or a specific technique, such as “hot spot analysis”, but it should be relevant to the contents of this course.
The literatures must include at least TWO academic journal articles, list them with appropriate reference format (as in the annotated bibliography assignment) at the end of paper, referred them with appropriate in-text citation format in the paper. No graphic/figure is allowed unless it is your own creation and relevant to the subject.
Do NOT misinterpret the term “literature review” as a collection of source summaries, similar to annotations or article abstracts. Although summarizing is an element of a literature review, the purpose is to create a comprehensive representation of your understanding of the topic or area of research, such as what has already been done or what has been found. Then, also using these sources, you can demonstrate the need for future research and applications, specifically, your future research.
There is usually no required format or template for a literature review. However, there are some actions to keep in mind when constructing a literature review:
1. Include an introduction and conclusion
2. Avoid direct quotations
3. Organize by topic or theme (techniques) raster than by author
4. Show relationships and consider the flow of ideas

For your second post, reflect on the following statements with the lens of what you’ve been doing for this class experiment. If your substance doesn’t apply to these questions, simply respond in the spirit of the question and the intent of getting you to think through hypothetical situations.
1. You are hanging out with friends after having 3 months of sobriety. Your friends tell you that you were all just going to watch a movie but all of a sudden you see them turn down the street where your item of choice is. What do you do?
2. You are home alone and bored, normally you would fill your time with your item of choice however since you have been sober you have been having more free time on your hands. The clock is slowly ticking and you say to yourself “I have earned a little reward” how do you reward yourself?
3. You and your significant other are always arguing and you have noticed an increase in emotions since you became sober. Why does everyone have to be so irritating? After one heated argument, you see your keys on the table and have the urge to just “drive and get what you need.” What do you do?
4. You have been doing everything that you were supposed to do; you have maintained abstinence, gone to your meetings, and “worked your program.” Yet whenever you see your close friends and family members, they are always accusing you of using again. You’re fed up and decide “what’s the point, if you think I’m using I might as well go ahead and do it.” What do you do?
5. It’s early morning, you’re groggy irritable and sleepy. When you were using you would go straight to your item of choice to “kick start your day.” You look on the coffee table and there is just enough money to “get your fix” what do you do?
6. You have not been able to sleep for days! Ever since you went abstinent, your item of choice is all you have been able to think about! It’s been 5 days and it seems like you have developed special radar for your item of choice. Your brain starts to tell you “it’s ok, who is going to know? I mean you did good this long. If everyone else can do it with no problem then why do you need to sit out of all the fun?” What do you do?

1.Literary Analysis Discussion Topic- Due 9/29/21 Initial Post: First, read the assignment, which is presented in detail under the heading Essay 1: Literary Analysis in the Week 4 link. Choose which topic you wish to write about and submit your initial thoughts in a paragraph or two for the benefit of receiving some feedback before you begin your final draft. Be as specific as you can. What are your challenges in writing the essay? Peer Response: The best early response to a work in progress is to say what you like about what you’ve read and what you’d like to hear more of. When we tell a writer what we like, we’re letting him or her know what works. When we tell a writer what we’d like to hear more of, we’re giving him or her an idea of something to add to the next draft of the essay. Is there anything you can add to what your peer is writing about? Perhaps another example in a text to strengthen your classmate’s proof that what he or she is saying is accurate? Due Sunday, but the sooner the better. Please write your response as soon as possible after submitting your own comments about the essay you are writing. The sooner you can respond to a classmate, the more time you will provide for him or her to think about what you wrote and write a better essay by Sunday. The more time you will have too if everyone submits as soon as possible. 2.Essay 1: Literary Analysis Assignment-Due 9/29/21 Write: Please choose one of the following prompts for your literary analysis essay on any length. Be sure to prove the accuracy of what you say with specific examples from the texts you’ve chosen to analyze. 1) Compare the character of Charlie in “Babylon Revisited” with the character of Emily in “A Rose for Emily.” Discuss the role the “past” plays in both of their lives. “Past” here could mean their individual “pasts,” but also the past of their communities. 2) Looking closely at the characters we’ve encountered so far, how have early twentieth-century ideas of gender roles contributed to the events of their lives? Think, for instance, of the way Emily’s gender shapes the town’s views of her; or how “the man” and “the girl” get along in “Hills Like White Elephants.” 3) Now that you’ve read three works of modernist fiction, write an essay that identifies a few central common points of modernist writing. What do these stories share in terms of the way they are told? Did they remind you of any other books you’ve read or films you’ve watched in terms of how the story is told? 3.Strange Fruit-Discussion Topic Initial Post, 1 paragraph, due Thursday: Reflect on the experience of reading the poem “Strange Fruit” and then listening to a recording of Billie Holiday singing “Strange Fruit.” How does the song effect your understanding of the poem? 4.Formal Response: The Gilded-Six Bits Assignment Write a 250-word essay in which you respond to ONE of the three questions listed below: 1. What do you think of Hurston’s use of dialect? Would you have preferred that she tell her story in a more conventional, more easily understood style? What difference does her choice make in how you feel about the story and the people in it? Cite an example. 2. How would you respond to Missie May’s adultery if you were Joe? What about if you were Missie May? What do their individual responses tell us about each character? Who do you think is the father of Missie May’s baby? Does it matter? 3. Do characters in the story believe in racial stereotypes? Where do you see this in the story, and what stereotypes are in use? 5.What Does the Speaker Know? Discussion -Initial post: At the end of McKay’s “The Harlem Dancer,” the speaker says s/he “knew” something. What does the speaker know by the end of the poem, and how do you think s/he knows it? Why might that knowledge conflict with the imagery and language of the rest of the poem? Peer Response: Reply to the comments made by one of your classmates. Respond to a student whose work you haven’t yet commented on. 6.The Man Who Was Almost a Man Initial Post: Identify and respond to a particular sentence, phrase, paragraph, or moment from “The Man Who Was Almost a Man.” See week 1 for an example. Peer Response: Read through your classmates’ responses, choose the one that is most interesting to you, and write a few sentences in response. See week 1 for an example. 7.Where’s Dave Heading? Initial Post: In a commentary of any length write what about what thoughts the following questions bring to your mind: Where is Dave headed at the end of the story? What do you think will happen to him? Is Dave a loose cannon or did his killing of the mule have deeper meaning in the text, in your view?
