Please respond to all 8 discussion separately/INDIVIDUALLY. Please divide the words equally between the 8 responses. Discussion #1I have always viewed my grandfather’s values as my life rubrics. He always told me to take all of the opportunities that I could, become fluent in both languages, and work is a blessing. He has many more values, but I think those are the top three values that I can say I value just as much as he does. Growing up I did not see these values as being important, but as I have gotten older, they make sense and I see why he stuck by those wise words. I have seen the benefits of taking advantage of the opportunities that come my way since I realized that I needed to start focusing on my future. I remember my grandfather taking me to school and always telling me to perfect both languages because knowing more than one is a huge advantage. I also see that having a job is a blessing and not something to dread. There are times that we just do not want to work, but in the long run, it is a great thing to have.

Discussion #2Replies to Alan Guthrie
Any type of rubric that I use for life is based around the phrase “do no harm”. Since I was young, being a positive influence on other people has been a very important factor in my own well being. When I hear “do no harm” I think of helping others, uplifting people that are in a low place, not saying or doing anything that would hurt or negatively impact other people, and more recently to not do anything that will hurt or negatively impact myself. To me my life isn’t only about my happiness. It is about being a light to others around me and spreading a positive influence and message. Making people happy doesn’t have to be extravagant. Think about how you feel when a stranger tells you that they like your hair, something about your style, or that they like a part of your personality. I enjoy taking that happy feeling and reaching out to give it to someone else. In my mind there is nothing better than seeing the people that surround you smile!

Discussion #3The rubric I use in my life on a every day basis, is how I want my children to grown up. How do I want them to view their mother as, hard working, can accomplish goals, loving, and smart. Do they want to grow up to be just like me or will they resent me for not being the best me to be. I also like to show to acts on kindness, because you never know what a person is going through. If I can change the world a little just by smiling and waving at someone I will do it.

Discussion #4I like to think my rubric for life is two things, treating others how I wish to be treated and doing everything with a good intention. As humans, we are imperfect. We all have flaws and will make mistakes. I think it is best to treat others with understanding and kindness. Everyone has a way they prefer to live their life, values that we may or may not agree with or aren’t considered the highlighted ones we personally as individuals follow. Who is to say the way I live is better or worse than anyone else? That is no ones place to pass judgement. I think realizing that in life we are going to encounter people who aren’t our cup of tea and being okay with that is a very important life lesson. Letting them be, and in turn being as you are on your own. Going hand in hand with this is to go fourth in life not seeking to be perfect, but seeking to be good and do good. We can try our best and fail or maybe not have the desired outcome, however we tried to be good and to do good and that matters most.

Discussion #5I think that Dr. Deb Wade mentioned all of the key points when it comes to abusive relationships. When people are in relationships they tend to forget what is okay and what is not. At times they think it is all a part of the relationship scene and do not realize that boundaries need to be created. She mentions that one party comes off as controlling and the other party mistakes that for love. I think this is very common and I have seen it happen. I have seen all of the points happen in other people’s relationships and it is difficult to watch it happen especially when it is someone you care about. It gets even more difficult when the person who is being abused does not want to see it as abuse. I think this article is a great reminder of what to keep in mind when being in a relationship.

Discussion #6Good morning everyone.

What I have gain an understanding about the Title 1X document at GCU is that they character exemplifies their beliefs in a very strong manner. Their commitment to their students reaching excellency is giving a more sense of confidence in my studies and work. They have an awesome faculty and student support system in which I am very impressed by. But what I enjoy most about the Title !X is that they gives me the opportunity to express my beliefs as well but in a respectful and loving way. It is their desire to help every student to become successful.

Discussion #7Title IX is a system that legally protects students from sexual harassment, assault, misconduct or discrimination based on gender, and how the situation is handled. This system allows Grand Canyon University to have resources readily available to students and faculty that may experience these situations. As a Grand Canyon University student, Title IX supports me by being made aware of policies and resources available to me regarding any type of harassment. It is reassuring to see the Title IX policy taken very seriously withing Grand Canyon University, and if anything should ever happen, the University is available to help take action and resolve the issue.

Discussion #8Title IX is a federal law that prohibits sex and gender based discrimination in education and activity programs that receive federal funds. Title IX protects against sexual harassments, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. At GCU, Title IX protects all men and women that are a part of any GCU program including athletics, extra curriculars, and in person and online classes. Aside from what Title IX covers GCU also prohibits sexual exploitation, threatening or causing physical harm, intimidation, hazing, bullying, and discrimination. Title IX offers an unlimited amount of support to students by setting a standard for behavior which may help discourage harmful behaviors. Along with discouraging those behaviors it also holds the perpetrator accountable for their actions when a situation does arise. It is also very helpful that GCU offers an anonymous complaint option where students can reach out to address an event or concern. The fact that GCU is covered under Title IX gives me an extra sense of safety and comfortability even though I am a part of the online program where there is not any in person contact. For myself it helps by making me feel like I can let my guard down and put my focus into my studies without worrying about any type of harassment from educators or peers.

WRTG 394 students,

This discussion topic is designed to help you consider a problem in your workplace or community and to design strategies in communicating about it.  This discussion topic might help you approach your final research-based report in WRTG 394.

First, please access and read through the following articles about communication inhibitors.

Dr. K. Usha Rani, “Communication Barriers”

Lumen Learning, “Communication Barriers”

These items are available as eReserves in our class in LEO. You can access the articles by taking the following steps:

• click Content
• select Class Resources
• select eReserves
• select the icon for eReserves in the middle of your page.
• in the list of items that appears, locate the articles and download them

Then, respond to this discussion topic by completing the following tasks:

Please think of an example of a problem with communication in your workplace or your community.  Then answer the following five questions with regard to that problem.  Post your answers to this discussion topic.

What is the specific problem with communication?

Does the problem represent an example of one of the barriers that the articles that Dr. Rani and Lumen Learning identify?  If so, which one(s)?

What are some possible communication strategies in notifying someone about the problem?

What is the best course of action for you to take in solving the problem?

What is the best way for you to communicate this problem to the relevant individuals?

An example of how to respond to this discussion topic is the following:

1. What is the specific problem with communication?

I am on a committee at work.  There are five members of the committee.  However, three of the members telework two days a week, and, as a result, we can never meet face-to-face.  Our meetings are not very productive because some of us are in the room during the meeting while some of us are on the phone during the meeting.

2. Does the problem represent an example of one of the barriers that the articles by Dr. Rani and Lumen Learning identify?  If so, which one(s)?

Yes.  This is an example of a channel barrier.  The medium chosen for our type of communication — online meeting software — is not suitable or appropriate for our context.

3. What are some possible communication strategies in notifying someone about the problem?

I could email my supervisor, who formed the committee.

4. What is the best course of action for you to take in solving the problem?

Our committee was formed for a specific duration of time.  We have two months remaining for our committee.

I think we should arrange for everyone to be in the office on the same day each week for this two months.  We could hold our committee meetings on that day of the week. This arrangement would solve the problem in that we would all be physically in the room for the meeting.

5. What is the best way for you to communicate this problem to the relevant individuals?

A series of messages would be preferred in this case.  They would be the following:

I could send an email message to my supervisor.  In that email message, I would note the following:

how many times we have met

what types of communication problems have occurred during our meetings that have caused the meetings to be less than productive

I could then outline a plan for having everyone in the office one day during the week so that we could hold our meetings on that day.

_____________

This discussion topic is designed to give you the opportunity to peruse the assignment instructions for all the research related writing assignments in WRTG 394.

This task will allow you to begin thinking about and planning for your WRTG 394 research writing assignments, the Synthesis Literature Review, the Research Proposal Memo, and the Research-Based Report.

NOTE: This is a discussion topic designed to help you begin thinking about the three research-related writing assignments in WRTG 394. Completing this discussion topic does not complete any of the assignments discussed in this topic. This simply helps you become familiar with your assignments so that you can plan for the rest of your WRTG 394 course.

In the Content area of the 394 classroom under the heading Sample Papers, open each of the following sets of writing assignment instructions:

sample synthesis literature review (WA #2)

sample research proposal memo (WA #3)

sample research-based report (WA#4)

Note that the student used the same topic for all three of these assignments. You are expected to use the same topic for all three of these writing assignments in your WRTG 394 course.

Please use these sample papers to help you answer the following questions:

1. Examine the Synthesis Lit Review (WA#2) instructions. This assignment calls for the student writer to use scholarly (academic) and professional (trade) sources. Explain what you understand a scholarly source and a professional/trade source to be. You should consider offering an example of each type of source.

2. Examine the Research Proposal Memo (WA#3) instructions. What permission must you request? To whom should your memo be addressed? What information about your research must you provide?

3. Take a look at the Research Report (WA#4) instructions. What additional research demands are placed upon the writer for this assignment compared to WA #2? How can you as writer best present your report so that it is most readily accessible for your primary audience?

4. Writing on the same topic for WA#2 and WA#4 make the writing of the research report an easier task than it would have been if different topics had been chosen.  Comment on how the writing on the same topic for both these assignments can help you as you write your research report.

—————

WRTG 394 is a business writing course. Business writing has certain significant differences in style (approach to how the writer presents the subject matter) and format (arrangement of text on the page, i.e., how the writing looks to the reader) from the type of college writing that students are familiar with, academic writing. Therefore, it is important that you review some resources and make yourself acquainted (and eventually knowledgeable) with both business writing style expectations and with business writing format expectations.

In this WRTG 394 course, you will expected to complete all writing assignments using appropriate business writing style and business writing format.

Both here and in the Week 1 Content area of the WRTG 394 classroom you will find links to resources that will help you understand business writing style and business writing format. You should find the following resource very helpful for becoming acquainted with business style and how it differs from academic style:

Business Writing Style (Oregon State University)

This source gives you some examples of what business writing format looks like:

Business Document Formats (Lumen Learning)

There are two (2) questions for you to consider responding to for this topic. You should only choose one question to respond to for your initial response. Respond to that question in a minimum of 40 words. Then, in your reply to a classmate, try to choose a classmate who responded to the question you did not choose. If that’s not possible, try to choose a classmate who hasn’t gotten a reply from anyone.

Questions/Discussion:

1. In the Oregon State University resource on business writing style, review carefully the table showing differences between academic and business writing styles. Choose a difference that you find surprising (or that you think might be challenging to remember and practice as you are learning business writing) and discuss why you find this difference particularly surprising and/or challenging.

2. The Lumen Learning resource discusses how email and other web based forms of communication and reduced memo use in workplaces. Consider your own workplace (or a similar setting such as an organization/club/team, etc.) you belong to or are involved with and discuss whether your own experience in the communication setting you have chosen seems to prove that Lumen’s claim about the “death of memos” seems valid or seems – premature, let’s say.

In task 7-3, you will submit your final PowerPoint presentation of approximately 15–30 slides. Combine all of the milestone projects college essay help: college essay help

In task 7-3, you will submit your final PowerPoint presentation of approximately 15–30 slides. Combine all of the milestone projects as well as the additional information as set forth by the final milestone assignment. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the main elements of the final product. The contents should reflect all of the components from each milestone that you have submitted throughout the course. If feedback suggested that you change, update, and/or modify any component, those changes should be incorporated or addressed. Present a step-by-step PowerPoint presentation about how you would meet the challenge of having this order produced, having it in-store for the season specified, marketing it successfully to the primary target audience AND secondary market, and producing it as sustainably as possible.

Other things to consider including in your presentation:

What key information would you need to supply to the manufacturer about this sustainable collection?

Could any of the steps be expedited in order to speed up the manufacturing process, all the while not losing sight of maintaining transparency of the sustainability of production?

How will you merchandise these garments and promote the benefits of being an eco-friendly collection? How will buyers and other retailers respond to these sustainable garments?

Include any images, URLs, or other documentation to support your findings. In addition, your presentation must include the following: title, your name, and references. This milestone will be graded using the Final Presentation Rubric (below).

Things to keep in mind: Think of the styles you are creating/purchasing for the target market and the number of outfits you can create from the collection. You want to make sure that you create balance that can be merchandised by color, grouping of fabrics, and, ultimately, the overall end function of the outfits.
