Sartre’s “The Wall” examines independent action and free will.

Society levies restrictions.  The essential is that there is no free lunch.  There is no free anything.  There is always a price to pay.  It might be loss of freedom, diminishment of a sense of self, or cost.  We may think that we are independent, but someone connects our homes with power, someone else paves the road on which we drive, and yet another person operates on an ill person’s appendix.  No man is an island (John Donne).   We might think that we can be free of society, but everywhere man is in chains (Jean-Jacques Rousseau).

Using the information below what could a security professional do to prevent this situation or use this information in a defense?

Fitness trackers are all the rage. But how secure is the data that these devices accumulate and transmit? And should we even care?

A relatively new class of mobile technology consists of devices that can be worn by the user instead of carried. Known as wearable technology, these devices can provide even greater flexibility and mobility. As the cost of wearable technology has decreased while the network speed of the devices has increased, sales of this technology have dramatically risen. Wearable device shipments worldwide totaled 26 million units in 2014 and increased 173 percent the following year to 72 million units. It is estimated that wearable device shipments worldwide will reach 175 million by 2020.

The most common type of wearable technology is a fitness tracker. These devices typically monitor movements by counting steps and distance traveled, record heart rates, provide location data, give alerts of incoming email, calls, or text messages, and even monitor sleep patterns. Another type of wearable technology is a smartwatch. This device can serve as an accessory to a smartphone so that users can easily glance at the watch to view messages without the need to remove the smartphone from a bag or pocket. The device also may have its own set of sensors and software features to function independently.

And as the technology continues to advance, fitness trackers are becoming that much more powerful. A project by the National Institutes of Health and the Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center has recently designed a tracker that measures multiple chemicals in the user’s persperation and then calibrates the data according to the wearer’s body temperature. These “sweat trackers” check for lactate and glucose (the chemicals that are produced when our bodies burn fuel) as well as the electrolytes sodium and potassium (the chemicals that are needed to retain water). Too much lactate during a workout may indicate muscle fatigue, while low levels of potassium may mean dehydration is starting to occur.

But wait, there’s more. There is now a digital Bluetooth-based home pregnancy test. According to the vendor, the “[pregnancy test] stick syncs securely to the . . . app on the users’ mobile device via a small, low-power and disposable Bluetooth Smart module . . . The app offers step-by-step assurance through the testing process, as well as a three-minute countdown to the result. During this three-minute wait, the user is offered a variety of options to help ease anxiety . . . After three minutes, the test result will appear on the test stick, and can be displayed on the mobile device after a secure code is entered.”

So with all of this user fitness and health data being collected and transmitted, is it secure? Canadian researchers looked at fitness-tracking devices and their companion mobile apps from eight different fitness device manufacturers. All the devices, with the exception of the Apple Watch, transmitted a persistent and unique Bluetooth identifier, meaning that the user could be tracked by the beacons, even when the device is not paired with or connected to a smartphone. In addition, the companion smartphone apps for the wearables either exposed login authentication credentials transmitted the tracking information that allowed for a man-in-the-middle interception attacker, or allowed users to submit fake activity tracking information. And what security steps were taken were half-hearted. One fitness app used HTTPS only when the user was logging in with her password, but all other data was sent without any encryption, so that a snooper could easily read or alter the data.

Does it matter? Yes. Some health insurers are now using fitness tracker data to offer lower healthcare insurance premiums. And courts have admitted fitness app data as evidence in several cases. And imagine the ads you would receive once advertisers got their hands on your activity data. And think of what a stalker could do if he knew the route a victim takes every Friday afternoon while running. And on and on and on. Yes, it matters.

The primary purpose of these reaction essays is to think through aspects of the reading that interest you or writing essay help: writing essay help

The primary purpose of these reaction essays is to think through aspects of the reading that interest you or stuck out to you. Please avoid summarizing the readings; while I do want you to demonstrate that you have read the material, I am much more interested in hearing what you thought about it and what you would like to talk about. There is one other important rule for these reaction essays:

You must stick to a one-page limit; essays that spill beyond the limit will not be accepted! This means that you will have to express yourself with efficiency if you are going to say something substantial and interesting—which is the goal. Essays are to be double-spaced and in a reasonable type size (12 point) and font (Times New Roman is good) with 1 inch margins.

A good reaction essay will begin with a brief and succinct summary of the most important arguments of the piece. Don’t waste time summarizing the events; summarize the argument or goal of the source; why it matters. Then, pick one or two key sentences, arguments, revelations, themes, etc. to react to:

-What is the point of the argument, or what is the importance of the primary source?

-What is the author saying or what are they trying to hide in their piece?

-What does this reveal about this moment of history?

As you can see, I’ve kept these vague, and these are only suggestions. This is an opportunity to sit with the text, to absorb them, to learn from them, to understand them, and to accept and examine the things you do not know or do not understand in the text.

(1) In this week discussion we were asked to list some of the cultures in which we belong. I first want to state that culture is broader than what people think. Culture is tradition new and old where college essay help: college essay help

I first want to state that culture is broader than what people think. Culture is tradition new and old where people come together in order to form equality. I happen to be apart of a lot of different cultures in my life. The one most important to be is the football culture or Athlete culture. Once you introduce yourself as an athlete of player I feel as though more people start to relate or want to know more about you. I have been apart of this culture for years now and always find myself building more relationships around that fact I’m an athlete. Another culture I am apart of is the Philadelphia eagles culture which is a professional football team. I love that team and can call myself a fan putting me in there culture for life. Between those two the only culture that may put me in conflicting roles is the being an athlete. With that I do things and get put in situations where I have to think fast especially playing the sport. Along with that injury is conflicting role which can cause my athleticism to decrease and have to settle down. In the chapter on interpersonal I find that expectancy’ validations is something I use all the time. I always make sure that I dont say anything personal around people that I don’t know. I always predict what a person may say or do it I was to offer touch. I’m always prepared for a negative or positive reaction because we can’t always expect for someone to respond well to touch. A lot of people keep distance for a reason because they won’t to avoid touch or conversation.  In the textbook burgoons states ” that Americans have four proxemic zones, which nicely correspond with the four interpersonal distances selected by my students: Intimate distance: 0 to 18 inches Personal distance: 18 inches to 4 feet Social distance: 4 to 12 feet Public distance: 12 to 25 feet ” (Burgoon)
(2)
In the chapter of interpersonal communication, I read over the topic of when relationships deteriorate. This topic was more personal for me because I’ve gone through so many breaks off with friendships I thought would last longer than they did. But in the book it discussed how pressure from external events, differences between the two individuals, and relationships/ friendships with other people can be the reason for such relational deterioration. And seeing that really made it clear why those friendships didn’t work out. I can find that this doesn’t happen in every relationship/ friendship that will come along and I can use this information in my daily life by seeing just how individuals handle problems that surface to see just how much a friendship matters to them.
(3)
Some of the cultures I belong to are: Hispanic, American, Non-Denominational Christian, Millenial, Football (pretty much any sport) and a few others.
According to Interpersonal Communication (2020), cultures do not mean one thing. We can be a part of many different cultures. Wether those race, heratiage, values, gender, religion, generation, likes, even dislikes. Some of the cultures in which I belong are the Hispanic, American and Christian cultures. My likes that feel like cultures are football, college football on Saturday and NFL on Thursdays, Sundays and Mondays. I think even generational culture is a strong influential culture that is ever changing.
The strongest culture I identify with is the classic american culture. While I am in school, my partner works and I stay home with our daughter. I do the whole stay at home mom/partner thing. I love my family but I cannot wait to get my degree and have my own career.
I think I identify with my religious culture can sometimes conflict with some of my other cultures. I sometimes forget that in religion you can always ask for forgiveness for sins committed. However sometimes my cultures can conflict. For example when I watch a football game, and my teams are not doing so well (or even my fantasy players) I can get a little lively about it. I then would have to compromise one culture because of another.

DQ2_ Candace Question: How will you use leadership to serve others? Answer: Being a Servant Leader resembles the way Jesus lead his people. He made sure that he served others because he genuinely care essay help: essay help

He made sure that he served others because he genuinely cared for them. He made a point to lead by example so his followers would go on the serve others and become leaders themselves. According to Greenleaf (2016) the best test to ensure your serving the highest priority needs of others is:
Are those that you are serving able to grow as a person while being served? Are they, wiser, freer, healthier, more autonomous, and more likely to become servants themselves? In a society that is least privileged, what effect are you having on them? Will they benefit or not be deprived further? (The Servant as Leader section, para. 3)
Servant Leaders are motivated, have good social skills, and are empathetic towards others. Empathy is so important because people are drawn to someone who is honest, trustworthy, and genuine person who cares about you on a deeper level. This provides a sense of security and trust which will help motivate and inspire the ones you are serving. A servant leader will also teach others on ways to expand their knowledge and provide guidance on how to better themselves. Listening and giving someone your undivided attention shows that you care, and they are important. Taking time to listen to what is truly being said, not interrupting and then summarizing what you heard ensures you understand, and it helps build trust. “Servant leaders communicate by listening first. Through listening servant leaders acknowledge the viewpoints of the followers and validate perspective” (Northouse, 2019, p.227). As a leader, there will be times when you are faced with challenging tasks or making difficult decisions. Even though we may be faced with difficult situations in life, we can take the opportunity to grow and help others grow as well. Leading by example can cast a positive shadow onto others so they will do the same. Grenny (2013) states, “When you ask people to step into a place of uncertainty and change, they look to you to take their cues. They look at your behavior” (p.157). By leading through example, showing empathy, building trust, and taking time to truly listen will help me stay aligned with my Christian values and principles.

In terms of the topic for the paper, I am going to strongly recommend that you write it on Plato’s Euthyphro dialogue, the entirety of which is in the textbook for the class. Here are the main questio college essay help near me

Here are the main questions that you should consider in your paper:
What is the general argument of the dialogue?
What are some of the main attempts at definitions that Euthyphro offers to Socrates?
What problems does Socrates bring up about these attempts?
Do you agree with the problems that Socrates brings up? Why or why not? Is there a way to surmount these problems?
As well as these questions, feel free to bring up anything we have studied in class so far that you think might be relevant (i.e., are any fallacies committed by either Euthyphro or Socrates in the dialogue, what kind of definitions are offered, etc.)
Format of the paper:
I would like you to compose the paper in a word-processing program, preferably Microsoft Word if you have it, and upload the assignment as a file. The paper should be 3 – 4 pages, double-spaced, in Times New Roman 12 point font (this should come out as approximately between 1000 and 1200 words). You should use the traditional, five-paragraph essay structure to organize the paper (one introductory paragraph ending with your thesis statement;  around three body paragraphs, each of which addresses a specific point that supports your main thesis statement; and a concluding paragraph reiterating your main thesis). There are all kinds of more specific descriptions of the five paragraph format online if you are unfamiliar with it, but I’m assuming everyone is coming into this class having written at least a couple of papers that follow this general structure.

Themes/topics selection should be based off each student’s personal/professional interest(s).
The idea behind this paper is to address/resolve at least one concern associated with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Papers should focus on either Foreign Policy -OR- Domestic Policy proposals [e.g. ocean acidification of the Great Barrier Reef, over fishing in the Atlantic (be specific with the nearest coast), managing COVID-19 (be specific with location), supporting women’s rights in . . ., introduce comprehensive affordable housing options for . . ., etc.].
FOR THOSE OF YOU INTERESTED IN Domestic Policy
Determine/identify an area in the USA representing an entire region in the USA [e.g. Pacific Northwest, the South, the Midwest, etc.], state or territory [e.g. California, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, etc.] or a city [e.g. Flint, New Orleans, Dallas, etc.]). Determine/identify which approach is most effective to accomplish desired objective (social or economic policy), and explain: 1) your goal(s) [Agenda Setting]; 2) who would promote your policy proposal [Adoption]; 3) who would benefit; and 4) who would absorb accrued expenses?
Identification of the preferred application of resources (e.g. redistributive, distributive or regulatory) is also expected. The five steps below should be considered as the categories in which your policy proposal should be constructed.
FOR THOSE OF YOU INTERESTED IN Foreign Policy
Again, after reviewing the UN Sustainable Development Goals draft policy that would potentially resolve your concern(s) as it/they exists in another country or region around the world [e.g. of regions: Central America, Caribbean, South America, Africa, Middle East, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Islands, Antarctica, or the Artic]. Once this concern(s) has been identified, mention the role the USA will play in resolving the situation.
Determine which approach is most effective to accomplish desired impact (social or economic policy), and identify: 1) your goal [Agenda Setting]; 2) who would promote your policy proposal [Adoption]; 3) who would benefit; and 4) who would absorb accrued expenses?
Identification of the preferred method to apply resources (e.g. crisis, strategic, or structural defense) is also expected. The five steps below should be considered as the categories in which your policy proposal should be constructed.
***The (5) steps to policy formation are listed in our course textbook, so all students should be sure to refer to our textbook for more detailed information – Policymaking Process:
Agenda Setting – What’s your issue(s) of concern?
Formulation – What’s your approach to resolve your issue(s) of concern?
Adoption – Domestic Policy – Which elected officials would you approach to ask to endorse your legislative proposal [i.e. this also depends on where you would like your proposal to have the greatest impact ~ national level (members of USA Congress), state level (governor[s] and members of state legislature as per the state you would like the most changes to come about), county and local level (county commissioners, mayors, city council members)] ~ it is encouraged to research each decided upon elected official to get a better understanding as to whether they would in fact support your proposal or not students are not limited to one group [i.e. there can be a combination of members of USA Congress working with state elected officials, with local representatives? I’m looking for names of representatives.
Implementation – which departments of the federal, state or local government(s) would be responsible for implementing your proposals [e.g. Labor, Treasury, Interior, State, Health and Human Services; and know each of these departments very often have either a similarly named department at the state level; and students are also encouraged to research each possible department to identify agencies and bureaus (e.g. Bureau of International Labor Affairs, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, Internal Revenue Service, Land Management, Ocean Energy Management, etc.)]? Again, names of selections.
Evaluation – When would you suggest/like to see people responsible for evaluating overall performance of your proposal come together and figure out what works to either apply consistent/additional resources, or end suggestions that do not work? Post a timeframe [e.g. every month, six months, annually, etc.].

Papers should be 2-3 double-spaced pages, with reasonable (12 pt.) font and reasonable (1 inch) margins.
Citations are required [in-text citations are preferred (MLA style)].

Best wishes!
