Phase 4 project: Substance abuse in youth
This phase reports the findings of the study in descriiptive statistics. Therefore, the results are in percentages.
About 80% of the respondents indicated that the influence of their peers is “high.” The other respondents, or 10%, rated it as “mild” and the rest 10% indicated the influence is “extreme.” The number suggests that most young drug users get into the habit via the impact of their friends or peers. The force could happen in school or the community. According to literature, it is the peer who usually introduces young people to drugs. The role and influence of peers are present in online settings. Young people spend most of their time online chatting with friends, commenting on their posts, liking them, and following memes and influencers like celebrities.
Knowledge of drug users
All or 100% of participants indicated that their knowledge of drugs and drug abuse is high. This knowledge involves the dangers of drugs, the risk of overdose, addiction, and other related aspects of drugs and drug use. The findings imply that young people use drugs although they know the risks associated with drug use. The figures also suggest that campaigns designed to educate people on drug abuse have been successful, but young people continue to use them regardless. Therefore, the primary driver of drug abuse is the hidden or structural factors and not a lack of knowledge or information.
Influence of media
50% of the participants said that the impact of media is “moderate.” Another 25% said it is “mild” and the rest indicated it is “extreme.” The influence of the media is both positive and negative, following the results of the study. On the positive side, the media provides information about the risk of drug use. It also gives additional information on how people could kick out the habits and other resources such as the location of rehabilitation centers. The negative side is that some media images, videos, and posts appear to glorify drug use. Some songs suggest that using drugs is desirable, and that negatively affects young people.
The effect of substance abuse among other individuals
About 100% of the respondents said they had witnessed at least one negative impact of the drugs on people or individuals close to them. The individuals could be relatives, peers, neighbors, among others. The negative impact is addiction and loss of job due to the drug habit. Another negative impact cited by the respondents is the involvement in crime and criminal activities and underachievement in school or college. Therefore, the drug habit is harmful to the welfare of people. Drugs can ruin the lives of otherwise good people.
Why do they take the drugs
80% of the respondents said that they take drugs to feel high. Therefore, they take the drugs to make them happy and increase their capacity for dealing with personal problems such as loss, depression, and general failure. Another 20% abuse drugs because they feel compelled as a result of addiction. Impulsive users have been using drugs for an extended period, creating dependence. It is impossible to kick out drug dependence without medical intervention such as methadone treatment or rehabilitation.
How they got introduced to them
90% said that they started the drug habit after the introduction by a peer. The rest indicated that they began the drugs on their own after getting the information from the media. The literature has documented the vital role of peers in initiating people into drug abuse. The findings from the study also support the critical role of friends and peers in drugs use. The media introduced some of the respondents to the drugs in gaming platforms, on social media platforms, and after listening to songs that praised drug use. In the case of marijuana, some songs praise it as a holy herb, which is used for medicinal purposes among the people hence, curing some diseases.
70% of the respondents said that they faced challenges related to stopping the drugs. At least 10% of the respondents had tried to stop using the drugs but failed to succeed. The findings indicate a need for a campaign of assistance to help drug addicts receive treatment for their addiction. Only 10% of drug users said they were happy with their current drug use habit and are not looking for assistance. However, at the same time, some said they feared looking for treatment due to the cost and legal action. A possible solution to the drug problem is decriminalizing the possession and use of small amounts of drugs and instead availing more resources for treatment.
The trend in substance abuse and addiction for the recent three years
daily behaviors of drug users
The data shows a trend of increasing drug use. Most young people are now using drugs than any other time due to the influx of those drugs from surrounding countries, despite government efforts to make drug use harder. For the authorities, this suggests a need to invest more time to handle the problem. As already noted, decriminalizing the possession, as well as, the use of small amounts of drugs would make them cheaper in the streets. Therefore, in this case, the trade would be less profitable for cartels and criminal gangs controlling the production and distribution of illegal drugs. That is the only solution that can address the issue.
Their social skills
60% of the respondents have poor to moderate social skills. 20% had good social skills, and another 10% had excellent social skills. The findings support the literature that drug use is an attempt to mask an underlying issue. In this case, young people with poor social skills use drugs to hide them. Therefore, as part of an intervention, it is vital to support young people gain social skills and kicking out the drug habit. Without intervention, most people cannot break free from destructive habits. After all, treating drug addiction alone does not address the underlying mental health problem. The ability to talk with people, as well as, handle social issues, among others, is vital but often overlooked in dealing with the drug issue.
The most commonly abused drugs
The most commonly used drugs are prescriiption medication such as pain killers at 80%. 10% of users said that they use marijuana. The other 10% use a combination of crystal meth and other lab-produced drugs bought online. Prescriiption medications are easy to acquire for most users, but marijuana is also easily accessible in the streets. Those who access illegal drugs online buy them from hidden websites that are only accessible using the onion browser or Tor. Laboratory-produced drugs are also widely used and loved due to their low cost and ease of access. Some participants indicated that they make the drugs in their private labs at home by combining a few ingredients. They learned the art of drug production through online platforms.
Anxiety and depression
Using standardized measures for assessing anxiety and other mental illnesses found that 70% of the participants showed signs of anxiety disorders and other mental disorders. The symptoms of anxiety disorders are nervousness in social settings, panic, fear, sweating, and a rapid heartbeat. 10% of participants assessed showed signs of depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorders, but the rest did not show any mental health issues. The findings suggest that drug use is also related to the presence of poor mental health. In poor households, where there are different problems, including domestic violence, young people start using drugs early to self-treat their underlying mental health issues.
The findings of the study show that, in general, more young people are using drugs than the older population in the society. In addition, the role of peers is vital in initiating people into drugs, and the media has a significant role to play as well. However, the most significant finding from the study is that most drug users suffer from mental health users that range from poor social skills, anxiety, and depression. Thus, drug use is an attempt at self-treatment. Moreover, although most drug users want to stop the habit, a lack of resources and treatment holds them back. Thus, there is a need to invest in the provision of free treatment for drug use. Early intervention is a better approach to dealing with substance abuse in teenagers because of the high cost of treating addiction and the comorbid mental health issues.

Sustainable construction practices can be highly contextual, diversely defined, and varied in their applications. Leaders in the construction industry Essay essay help: essay help
Sustainable construction practices can be highly contextual, diversely defined, and varied in their applications. Leaders in the construction industry must understand the concepts and techniques of sustainable construction and how they are currently impacting the industry. Knowing how to best incorporate sustainable materials and techniques into construction projects will help to make one’s construction company not only successful, but also competitive in today’s market. Accurately communicating the significance of using sustainable goods and techniques in a project is crucial in building a trustworthy, professional relationship with current and prospective clients.
As a construction leader, imagine you are a consultant hired to advise a design-build firm submitting a proposal for a competitive bid. The firm has recently added a commitment to being a leader in sustainable practices to its mission statement, but is just embarking on this new challenge and has little experience in using sustainable building practices. The firm is reluctant to use more sustainable methods for this project out of concern it will raise the amount of their bid, making it uncompetitive. You have been hired as a consultant because of your expertise in sustainable construction practices. Part of your role is to work with the project team and advocate for the use and adoption of potentially more costly, but sustainable, construction methods.
As a leader, what strategies will you use to influence team members to use sustainable construction practices? Provide an analysis of your leadership strategies and how they may impact production of sustainable construction practices. Be sure to reference this week’s Learning Resources to support your ideas.

Revision: Discrimination in Healthcare best college essay help
Integrating a visual is like integrating a quotation; you introduce it, present it, cite it, and explain it.
1. Copy your essay #3 and paste it into a new file titled “English 1A: Revision of Essay #3.” (The title of your actual essay should reflect your topic). This way you can begin revising while still keeping the original version of your essay. The title will also help you identify which essay you are working on.
2. Browse through visuals on your topic and select one or two that you think will help illustrate points you are making in your essay. Try this: “identify a few sources that are likely to have what you are looking for, and then search within those sites. For instance, if you need a table showing average life expectancy in different countries, you might begin with the website of the World Health Organization. If you hope to find images related to current events, news publications are an obvious choice. The Library of Congress website includes many media related to American history, culture, and politics” (McLean (Links to an external site.)).
3. Find a point in your essay which directly relates to the visual and paste it in. (See the Helpful Resources below for directions on how to insert images.)
4. Use your own words to introduce the visual before you present it. Make it clear what it is and where it comes from. Remember, this is an opportunity to appeal to ethos by showing the image comes from a reputable source.
5. After you present the visual, cite it as you would a quotation.
6. After the citation, explain what you want readers to see in it and how it supports your point.
– Add more information to your essay. Your revised essay should ADD a 7th page in ADDITION to a Works Cited page.
– Follow my suggestions and reorganize/develop/revise as needed.
– Improve how you appeal to logos, ethos, and pathos in your essay.
– Include at least one image/visual in your essay that you introduce, cite, and explain.
– Follow MLA format for essay format (Links to an external site.), titles (Links to an external site.), in-text citations (Links to an external site.), quotations (Links to an external site.), and the works cited page.
Steps for Revising
1. Improve on how you appeal to logos in your essay by making ideas clear and showing how ideas relate to one another. First, revise your thesis statement so it is a complete sentence that answers your issue-based question. Ask yourself: Who should do what and why? Next, make sure each topic sentence makes one specific claim that supports your thesis. The paragraph should remain focused on that one topic. Put your paragraphs in a logical order that shows the progression of your argument, for example: paragraphs on the impacts of the problem, paragraphs on the racist causes of the problem, paragraphs on the solutions to the problem. Each paragraph should lead logically to the next. Finally, add transitions (Links to an external site.) to your topic sentence so readers can see the logical connections between paragraph topics. You can also work on adding transitions within body paragraphs to help make your essay more coherent.
2. Add research that appeals to the head and the heart.Try to include more than one type of evidence from your research to support each of your points and persuade your audience. Analyze the types of evidence you already use and make a list of things to research. If you use a statistic in one paragraph, add person’s story to put a face on the number to make the reader care (pathos). If you only have a quotation, look for a statistic, other number, or fact to reinforce the speaker’s opinion (logos). Consider other points of view and look for evidence to support them to show you are not biased (ethos). Consider interviewing someone or conducting a focus group to get more opinions. They may help you think of perspectives to further research.
3. Improve how you appeal to ethos. Appealing to ethos requires you to build trust with your readers. Your readers are more likely to trust you if you use reliable evidence to support your claims. First, make sure to cite from well known reliable sources such as academic journals, well respected newspapers, and proven experts. Second, point out what makes the source reliable as you introduce the quotation. Mention the titles of academic journals, newspapers, or experts. You can also show your reader you are trustworthy by fairly presenting the perspectives of people who you may not agree with. Adding counterarguments shows you are not biased.
4. Add at least one visual/image to support your argument. Put it in a logical location and make sure to introduce, explain, and cite the visual just as you would a quotation. Follow the “Steps to Using Visuals in Writing an Argument” in chapter 10 of From Inquiry to Academic Writing (310). You can also refer to these resources: Incorporating Effective Visuals (Links to an external site.) and Incorporating Images, Charts, and Graphs.

Jake’s Auto Services’ regional manager notices that the sale of two types of tires has been sluggish for the last few business cycles. Atlas tires and Continental tires brands are lagging compared to rivals such as Michelin that sell at a similar price point.
1. Use the following Excel workbook that prepares you to analyze the number-of-units-sold and total sales for the two tire brands (Atlas tires and Continental tires). Data are reported by two retail outlets within the region as aggregate totals and are organized by month, beginning with January, for a period of 12 months.

The final product should be easy to read, properly labeled, clearly captioned, and accurately inserted into the final report. Follow APA style for in-text references to exhibits.
3. Prepare a statistical analysis that includes the following:
* Calculate annual mean, median, and mode (if one exists) for each brand by store as well as for the region.
* Calculate annual range, quartiles, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation for each brand by store as well as for the region.
* Create a table that clearly denotes column and row headings for the calculated results. Properly insert the table into the managerial report. Follow APA style guidelines for in-text referencing of an exhibit.

* between 40 Atlas tires and 80 Atlas tires.
Place the results into context relative to the store’s overall Atlas tire sales when discussing sales performance.
1. Prepare a complete briefing that provides an objective analysis of your work.
* Part 1 of your report should be a “Results Section” that delivers simply an explanation of the mathematics (using tables and graphs) and how results were obtained.
* Part 2 of the report should consist of a “Discussion Section” of 250 to 350 words that interpret your results and details the meaning of your outcomes. The analysis must incorporate the illustrative information presented in your chart or graph by properly infusing numerical data in the discourse. Be sure to properly insert objects into the report using the proper APA in-text reference style. You must submit your Excel spreadsheet as background support. [MO2.2, MO2.3]?

Focused vs. Comprehensive
I believe this would be a focused assessment because it primarily focuses on focused concerns and specific body systems (Bickley, 2021). With the information provided, the assessment includes chief complaint, symptoms of the complaint, pertinent negatives, and previous medical history. Some of the information I placed in multiple categories because I thought they were pertinent to both. For example, I placed the no fever or changes in vision in both histories of present illness and review of symptoms. This is important for HPI due to pertinent negatives of the patient’s condition. This is also important for the review of symptoms because the patient expressed more details on his HEENT exam.
Other Systems to Assess
Other systems I would assess are HEENT, cardiovascular, respiratory, and neurological. In regard to cardiovascular and respiratory, it is important to address these systems for every visit and assessment. Any changes in these two systems could indicate immediate issues or complications. I would also review the neurological system due to the location and severity of the patient’s pain. I would especially want to address the patient’s neurological status such as her alertness and orientation, reflexes, and movement. I would also ask additional questions such as “when did these symptoms start?” and “What helps alleviate the pain?” Another important aspect to research is the patient’s travel experience. She may have gotten ill due to some type of bacterial or viral exposure on the trip.

Hospital executives often come under scrutiny for the salaries and benefits they receive. According to a recent IRS survey related custom essay help
Hospital executives often come under scrutiny for the salaries and benefits they receive. According to a recent IRS survey related to chief executive officer salaries, of more than 500 hospitals, the national average income was $490,000. In addition, the salaries of hospital and other health industry executives have come under scrutiny in Congress. For-profit hospitals, which make up about 30% of hospitals, do not have to publicly disclose how much the executives at each facility earn, but nonprofit hospitals must provide that information on the IRS form 990, which are public documents. By law, hospitals are required to show that such compensation is “reasonable” when compared to pay at other similar institutions. If you were a board member of a healthcare organization, what other determinants besides the salary of other chief executives would you want information on before you determined the compensation of the chief executive of the health care organization whose board you are on? In addition, how do the responsibilities of chief executives compare to the responsibilities of other healthcare employees? Do these responsibilities warrant a substantially higher salary? Play: August Wilson’s Fences
Choose ONE of the following questions:
According to Question One about Fences on page 1281 in the Mays’ textbook, “…August Wilson describes Fences as revolving so completely around its central character [Troy Maxson]…” However, Rose is also an important character with a significant narrative. Write a two to three-page essay in which you explore how Fences might be more Rose’s story than Troy’s. In other words, make a claim that focuses on Rose. Maybe discuss how Rose’s life does not actually center as much around Troy as he thinks. Or maybe discuss how Rose represents not only African American women in pre-Civil Rights America, but all lower middle class and poor women. How could she have “…[left] some room for me” (1279). Another possibility would be to compare the generations of women – Rose, Troy’s mother, Raynell.
Critic Harry J. Elam, Jr. coins the term “racial madness…that suggests that social and political forces can impact the black psyche and that decades of oppression can induce a collective psychosis.” Elam claims that years of racial injustice and oppression influence Troy’s decision to prevent Cory from playing football. In a two to three-page essay, contrast Troy’s goal to “go down swinging” to the goals of Rose, his sons, Gabriel, and Bono. Address the difference between how Troy thinks about the American Dream, and racial injustice the way the other characters think about it. Better to narrow your contrast between Troy and one or two characters.
Must be two to three pages in length.
Must include at least two literary analysis sources from LINCC (you can use ones I post) addressing the play.
Must include Works Cited page with entries for literary analysis sources and the play.
Must include direct quotes from the play and in-text citations for secondary sources (page numbers in parentheses).
*An essay that fails to incorporate literary sources from LINCC or a paper that fails to include secondary research analysis sources or to document sources (in-text) throughout the essay will automatically lose all 40 mechanics points. Remember that a paper that has a Works Cited page and fails to document every citing is technically a plagiarized paper.

Your research summary should cover the following, in narrative format (this means like an essay, not bullet points or incomplete sentences): The primary motivation of the article (i.e., why do the authors think their study is relevant or important?) and research questions asked. Theories or conceptual frameworks used in the study, including any used to support the study’s main points and any critiqued by the study. The data and methods used in the study(i.e., how was the study actually carried out?) The primary findings of the study (i.e., what did the study actually discover?) For example, did the author(s) use a theory or draw a conclusion that you find particularly relevant? Which part of the article did you disagree with and why? Hello classmates and Dr. S,
When determining whether you have found a good source it is important to consider if it is scholarly or credible. Ensuring that the source is reliable is important as well. “Reliable sources in academic research are usually primary sources” (Lee 2013). This can be found in peer reviewed articles. The benefits of using peer reviewed journal articles over a website is evidenced in the amount of time that is invested by peers and being known for the most references or citations. According to a link in Purdue owl “Responsible, credible authors will cite their sources so that you can check the accuracy of and support for what they’ve written. (This is also a good way to find more sources for your own research.).” One of the drawbacks to using peer reviewed articles would be having to pay for a subscription to view the full spectrum of information available.
While it can be time consuming or come at a price in some instances to find credible information, it is especially important for students to do so rather than relay on all to easily convenient websites that we have readily available at our fingertips such as Wikipedia. Reason being most of these sites are not going to be accurately informing. Wikipedia is not a credible or protected site and can be edited by anyone. While I know not to trust everything I read or hear, I must say that being new to all of this myself, this was an eye-opening experience for me while doing my research on this topic. I found myself looking through different sites and came across Wikipedia many times. It shows how easily we can be misinformed or given dated information that may have changed substantially over the years. I look forward to gaining more insight on this topic and getting feedback from others on their personal experiences.

It’s important to think critically about how gender plays a role in the way we produce and consume stories, images, words, and characters. This will help us gain a better understanding of the world around us, help us decide whether we think certain representations promote the types of values we believe in, and help us come up with ideas for how we might work to change things for the better.
As you look through the media in this Module and in the readings, use them along with this overview as building blocks and avenues to dig deeper into this facet of identity and ask questions. Please answer these prompts:
How are masculinity and femininity represented in the media?
What specific images and words contribute to our understanding of what masculinity and femininity mean?
Does the media make assumptions about what men/boys like and how they (should) behave? Are there similar assumptions made about women/girls?
What impact do such media representations have to children as the grow and develop?

A. Directions Step 1: Pick a Topic Select a community group to study. Some examples of community groups you Essay best college essay help
Step 1: Pick a Topic
Select a community group to study. Some examples of community groups you might explore include:
An activity-based group like a book club, a soccer team, or a community choir
A religious or ideological community such as a church congregation or a local political party
A community organization like a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), a neighborhood association, or the volunteer committee at a local soup kitchen
An identity-based organization such as a social club for veterans or a fraternal type organization
It should be a group in which membership is voluntary and recreational. Avoid:
Ethnic or racial categories
You might wish to choose a group that you are a part of, or you might not. You can use your personal experience with the group to form the basis of your research question. Or you can ask members of the group about their experiences, which will help you develop your research question.
In the template, write a paragraph (approximately 6-8 sentences) describing the community group you have chosen. In particular, be sure to answer the following questions:
What is the community group?
What are the attributes or characteristics of this community group? (e.g. What activities does this group do together? What element of the members’ interests or identities brings them together? How is membership in the group defined, if at all?)
What kind of experience with or access to this community group do you have?
Step 2: Ask a Question
Next, you will formulate a question related to this group, and to topics related to diversity and/or collaboration. You might think about diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status, or along multiple intersecting identities. Be sure to use what you learned in Unit 1 about the ways sociologists ask questions.
What are the challenges of a mom’s community organization in appealing to moms with children of different ages?
How does a group of car enthusiasts reach out to the surrounding community to get support for their events?
How has the Boy Scouts accepting girls impacted their mission and programs?
Do gender segregated sports teams for kids help maintain traditional gender roles?
In the template, write the question you have formulated for your study. Be sure to identify the Independent and Dependent variables and identify them correctly. (HINT: Refer back to Lesson 1.3.3: Asking Questions and Lesson 1.3.5: Formulating a Hypothesis for help.)
Step 3: Prepare a Bibliography
Finally, you will begin developing a bibliography for a review of the existing literature that relates to your question. Before conducting a full literature review, a sociologist will build a bibliography, or a list of potential sources that they will read and study in greater depth in the review.
Collect 4-6 articles, books, or other resources that relate to your question and list them in your template. You don’t have to look into these materials in depth right now! You’ll review this literature more closely in a later Touchstone, and you will also be exposed to additional relevant research and frameworks in Unit 3. You’ll also be able to add to or amend your bibliography before your Touchstone in Unit 3.
Attributes of good readings for your literature review:
They are academic, scholarly works about research findings or they are reliable journalistic reporting based on scientifically credible and reliable data.
They should have been published in the last 10 years—unless they are a landmark work on the topic and provide important background or as a comparison.
They look at different sides of the argument and a variety of perspectives.
Where to find readings: More than likely you will use a major search engine like Google. Start your search by asking the question you want to answer and identifying key search terms to generate relevant results. You can limit your Google search to works that have been published in the last 10 years. You can also use a search engine like Google Scholar that specifically searches scholarly literature. However, keep in mind that much of this literature may have limited or paid access. Another good place to search is in a public or university library catalog or database. Whichever way you choose to search, make sure that you are selecting credible sources.
What makes a source credible? Credible sources are written by authors who are well known in their field. They are based on scientific data—not opinions or with biased observations. Sources should be from reliable outlets, like major publishers, universities, think tanks, and credentialed current practitioners. (HINT: Refer back to Lesson 1.3.4: Researching Existing Sources for more guidance.)
How to format sources in your bibliography: Sociologists use American Psychological Association (APA) format for their research. However, you will use a more simplified method to format sources for your bibliography. You will include five key elements for each source, with each element separated by a period:
Title of the source
Page numbers (if applicable)
Source’s location for web-based texts (URL)
