Rhetorical Device Assignment
For this assignment you must use all of the rhetorical devices listed on the reverse at least once. You must use twenty rhetorical devices.
Then write a passage that uses each device at least once. Each time you use a device, place the corresponding name in brackets immediately after the device is used. The assignment, then, should consist of at least twenty sentences. The best scenario is a passage that makes good sense, but if you experience difficulty, at least create additional sentences that use the devices you can’t fit in. You will be assigned one mark for each properly used device, plus a mark out of five for the quality of the passage as a written work. The devices don’t need to be used in order, and part or no marks will be given for any devices that are too similar to the examples given in the definitions.

1. Introductory Paragraph
This is where you’ll introduce your topic. The intro has three main elements.
Hook: Your opening lines are known as your hook. Knowing how to write a hook is what will draw your reader to the end.
Body: You can expand this type of generalized “setup” with another sentence or two.
Thesis Statement: The end of your introductory paragraph contains one very important element: your thesis statement. This will close the first paragraph on a strong point and set up the body of the essay. Every point you make within the body of your essay must relate back to your thesis statement. Thesis statement examples can give you inspiration, too.
In the body of your essay, you’ll present a series of supporting details to defend your argument. This can include any or all of the following:
The best way to visualize the body of your argumentative essay is to commit to three claims and back them up.
Narratives are another nice avenue, in terms of evidence. You can share someone’s testimony or even your own.
Argumentative essays are heftier than other essays. In an informative essay or a persuasive essay, you may choose to stick to one side of the discussion.
In an argumentative essay, you must address the opposing side’s opinions on the matter. Believe it or not, this will make your own argument stronger. It demonstrates you’re not blind to the issue and are prepared to stand strong. Here, you’ll state an opposing view (or more) and then refute it. You might use pathos, ethos, and logos to do this.
The conclusion is where you’ll summarize the main idea of your argument. In a way, it’s a mirror of your thesis statement. Of course, you don’t want to repeat your thesis statement word-for-word, but it can be similar. Summarize your claims as concisely as possible and then close the essay. You can end with a rhetorical question or thought-provoking statement.
You will need at least three sources printed out and a Works Cited Page with the source citations (also printed out) before coming to your next class. One source could be the graphic novel Soviet Daughter (list quotes and page numbers).

As you’ll read in your text, Sophocles added a third actor to his productions for submission to City Dionysia. That doesn’t mean there are only three characters, it means that only three characters (other than the chorus) are on stage at one time. An actor would play more than one character in the production of the play.
Read Antigone (Links to an external site.) (I’ve given you a link to the text online but you can likely find a hard copy at a library or any book store if you’d prefer)
Then you will write a 2-3 page (single-spaced) essay in a 12 pt standard font (Times New Roman, Ariel, etc…)
In your essay, you will give a brief analysis of the play (not just what happens, but what it’s about, what is the message of the play) and then select a fantasy cast of three actors.
For each actor you will write:
What characters they are to play and why they are a good choice for that role.
You’ll need to make sure that the characters they play do not appear on stage at the same time for example the character playing Antigone cannot play Creon as they have many scenes together.

worldview (meaning what that person believes about a god or god(s) or no god, and how he or

you in ministering to them as a Chaplain and potentially reaching them for Christ in our
pluralistic world with so many religious options.
To ensure success for this assignment, you will select a major world religion, interview a

Philosophical Service Project For this assignment, you will perform some “philosophical community service.” The service you will provide is demonstrating to some members of your community how to think essay help site:edu: essay help site:edu
” The service you will provide is demonstrating to some members of your community how to think critically about moral issues using the logical methods we’ve practiced in this class. So, you will model thinking in systematic ways about moral issues, engage some arguments from your audience, and help them evaluate these arguments.
Here’s what to do:
1. Pick a “practical” or “applied” topic: Polyamory and Monogamy
2. Develop at least 5 arguments in logically valid form on this topic.
Recall that the pattern here is:
A is an X.
All things that are X are Y.
Therefore, A is a Y.
A is an X.
If something is an X, then that something is a Y.
Therefore, A is a Y.
3. Find an audience of at least 3 people, not from this class. This can be three people from “real, in-person” life, or people online, say via Zoom or Skype or the like.
4. Present your arguments to this audience. Given them an introduction to what you will do in your presentation. Explain to them what you will do and how you will do it: tell them what arguments are and what makes arguments good and bad and how you can tell (explain – with examples – the concepts of arguments logical validity, soundness, counterexamples). State and explain your five arguments in logically valid form and fully evaluate them as sound or not: explain whether each and every premise is true or false and why. Do not present any “question-begging” arguments, where the premises assume the conclusion; if your audience offers any question-begging arguments, you will need to identify those as question-begging and explain why they are inadequate.
5. Get at least 3 (ideally, at least 5) new arguments, or premises, on the same topic from the audience.
6. With the audience, formulate these arguments in logically valid form and determine whether they are sound or not: address each and every premise.
7. Formulate any conclusions from your discussion and conclude your discussion, reviewing what you did.
8. Write up a report on what happened, using the headings below: cut and paste the text below into a document to use. Your final report here should be organized, clear, and easy to read.
Philosophical “Community Service” Project:
Your Class: Philosophical Ethics
Your Name: Gerren Whitlock
Your topic: Polyamory and Monogamy
Summarize the introduction to what you will do in your presentation. You will need to explain to the audience what you will do and how you will do it: you need to explain the methods that you will use to identify and evaluate moral arguments.
Present at least 5 arguments on that topic, stated in logically valid form.
Evaluate those 5 arguments as sound or not. Fully explain why they are sound or not: by explaining whether each and every premise is true or false (Note: merely stating whether an argument is sound or not does not explain why it is sound or not: explanations of whether each and every premise is true or false and why is needed).
Your audience members’ names:
Your audience’s reactions to the arguments that you presented and your evaluation of them:
The 3-5 arguments from the audience:
These arguments stated in logically valid form:
Your, and the audience’s, evaluations of these arguments as sound or not:
Your conclusions and summary of this activity that you presented to the audience.
Your individual or group’s reflections on this experience: what went well? What was interesting? What was surprising? What was challenging? How was this experience, overall?
This assignment results in students going all sorts of interesting places (bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants, etc.) to talk with interesting people (sometimes people they know, other times new people), to discuss all sorts of interesting topics. Typically, students appreciate the opportunity to “be the teacher” and confirm that they really learned something in the class, and they find their audiences appreciate learning some new, systematic ways of thinking about moral issues.
Here’s a recent final reflection from a student (used with permission) that is representative of a common reflection on the experience:
The whole activity went well. I believe that I explained moral arguments very well because the audience was able to understand the basic concepts of moral arguments. It was interesting to hear what arguments the audience would make. I thought it would be challenging for the audience to get the hang of making moral arguments, but it wasn’t hard for them at all. This was a great experience, I really enjoyed it and the audience enjoyed it as well. I really enjoyed being able to show what I have learned in this class. I also like the fact that I was able to benefit others with my knowledge.

Practitioners in health information management and healthcare informatics are expected to be keenly aware of new and upcoming technologies that might benefit their organization. This becomes more comp custom essay help: custom essay help
This becomes more complex as these individuals must also consider the impact that those technologies might have on the practice of medicine at their institution. When faced with new technologies, leaders in health information management must evaluate the state of the organization and make an informed decision that will affect the organization as a whole. This means addressing not just the needs of the health information management team, but the needs of all roles within the institution, while also addressing any issues of compliance the organization might be facing. For your final project in this course, you will imagine you have been hired as a contractor for a small medical facility to consult on the selection of a new technology. Their organization has been struggling, so you must first speak to the state of the organization and then offer an informed recommendation as to which of the technologies would suit the organization best. The project is divided into three milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Three, Five and Seven. The final product will be submitted in Module Nine. In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes: Determine standard technology systems and their uses in modern healthcare institutions through analysis of current and historical technology use in health information management and healthcare informatics Analyze the interrelationship between various professional roles within healthcare institutions and their use of technology systems for informing recommendations regarding health information technology systems Determine the potential impact of violating health regulations and laws regarding health information technology systems on healthcare organizations Develop health information technology recommendations for healthcare institutions that are compliant with health regulations and laws and ensure ethical management of health information Determine effective investment of resources in health information technology for healthcare institutions based on the needs of the healthcare institution Prompt Imagine you have been contracted to consult on the recent developments at the Featherfall Medical Center. Featherfall has been struggling of late; it has had a series of problems that have prompted your hiring. It has faced the following issues: 1. Featherfall has recently violated several government regulations regarding the current state of its technology and how it is being used. The technology system is vastly out of date, and staff are not always using the technology that is in place or they are using the technology inappropriately. These problems have lost the institution lots of money for not meeting government regulations and have caused operational and ethical problems from inefficient and ineffective use of technology. 2. The staff at Featherfall are not well-trained on the use of technology and do not communicate appropriately about technology use. The roles that pertinent to your consult are the health information management team, the clinical staff (doctors, nurses, etc.), and administrative staff. The health information management team uses proper coding practices, and the current technology system serves them well, despite its age. However, other roles in the hospital have had issues with the system. Clinical staff, for instance, have had record-keeping issues both due to lack of training on the system and the system itself being out of date. Administrative staff within the organization have taken issue with the lack of communication about the technology and its use between the various roles. When the current technology system was chosen many years ago, the needs of these various roles were not considered. You will begin by preparing for your consultation. You will analyze the history of the field as well as determine standard guidelines for technology use and standard technologies used in the field. You will also prepare information for Featherfall regarding the ramifications for violating health laws and regulations. Finally, you will use this information to review technology options that could be implemented at the institution. Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed: I. Preparation for Consult: In this section of your final project, you will prepare for your consultation on the organization’s technology choice. To prepare, you will analyze the field of health information management for determining standard technologies and guidelines related to technology use in order to inform your technology selection. A. Analyze key historical events in the field of health informatics for how technology has been used that could inform the management of health information. Be sure to support your response with appropriate examples. B. Determine guidelines for technology use in the field of health information management that Featherfall could implement. Be sure to support your response with research. C. Determine the standard technologies currently used in the field of health information management. Be sure to support your response with research. For example, what record-keeping technologies are typically used in the field? D. Develop an overview of how the pertinent roles described at Featherfall would interact with technology. E. Describe the process you would use to evaluate new health information technology systems. Be sure that your process will evaluate new systems based on how they meet the needs of the organization and how they are compliant with health regulations and laws. II. Health Regulations and Laws Ramifications: In this section of your final project, you will finish your preparation by reviewing and explaining the ramifications for the organization if it decides to wait on addressing its recent violations regarding technology use. A. Determine how violating health regulations and laws regarding technology could impact the finances of the institution if these violations are not addressed. Be sure to support your response with examples. B. Determine how violating health regulations and laws regarding technology could impact the daily operations of the institution if these violations are not addressed. Be sure to support your response with examples. C. Determine how violating health regulations and laws regarding technology could impact the security of the health information in the institution if these violations are not addressed. Be sure to support your response with examples. III. Technology System Recommendations: In this final section of your final project, you will review the provided technology options and make informed recommendations to the organization regarding which technology it should choose. A. Determine the needs of the various roles of the organization in a new technology. B. Recommend a new health information technology system that meets the following criteria. Be sure to justify how your recommendations meet the criteria. The new health technology must: 1. Abide by provided health regulations and laws 2. Align with the needs of all staff members of the previously described organization 3. Ensure the ethical management and use of health information C. Determine how the organization could more effectively invest its financial resources into the recommended technology system. Be sure to justify your response. D. Determine how the organization could monitor the use of the new health information system. Be sure to justify your response. E. Determine how the organization could effectively invest its time into the implementation of the new health information technology system. Be sure to justify your response.
Final Submission: Health Information Technology Recommendations In Module Nine, you will submit your final project. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final product. It should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This submission will be graded with the Final Project Rubric.
For your midterm paper, I would like you to write a concise, precise, and well-organized argumentative essay on one of the topics we have covered in this class thus far. It should be 1000-1200 words. college admission essay help
It should be 1000-1200 words. Philosophy teaches and requires effective communication on challenging issues, so skills gained in writing and communicating about philosophy transfer to any other area of life.
(a) pick one of the topics (Genital Cutting) an “applied” or “practical” topic is likely better, although you may also discuss a moral theory and an argument about that theory also–and
(b) present and explain an argument on the topic: that is, you present a conclusion on the topic (e.g., “Doing X is wrong” or “Doing X is not wrong” or some more specific conclusion) and you give reasons to support that conclusion. You may present just one argument, but you may also present a number of arguments: what’s important is that however many arguments you present, you present them in adequate detail and that you fully explain the arguments.
Your task is to do this all in a way that any reader or audience could understand and learn from.
This is not a “research paper”: you should not seek any resources beyond the class. The goal is to explain an issue and give arguments on that issue: the focus is on presenting reasoning, not presenting “information” that you might find from research.
What’s key is organization, so you will want clear, labeled sections like these:
You need a brief introduction that says what your paper will be about and gives your thesis, or the main point you will argue.
2. The Issue
Here you will want to give whatever background information and explanation readers need to know about the topic of your paper.
3. The Argument
Here you want to very explicitly make your argument: clearly state your conclusion and clearly give the reasons you are giving in support of that conclusion. Explain why you think these reasons support that conclusion and why you think people should accept those reasons.
4. Objections and Questions
You must raise and respond to at least one objection–that is a reason that might be given to think that your argument is unsound–or respond to a critical question someone might have.

Read the two passages below on the subject of violence within the context of racial uprisings from Rodney King Essay essay help
Read the two passages below on the subject of violence within the context of racial uprisings from Rodney King to Philado Castile to Geoge Floyd. While MLK believes love is more powerful than violence, Abdul-Jabbar believes that violence (although unjustifiable) can shine a light on racism. Which position do you agree with and why? Write an essay to convince readers of your position, using evidence from both texts for support. You may also quote from the text Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992. To make your essay convincing, be sure to include 1–2 body paragraphs and 2–3 pieces of evidence per body paragraph.
Martin Luther King Jr., 1968: “The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence, you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence, you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate. So it goes. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, May 2020 (Response to the George Floyd Protests): Yes, protests often are used as an excuse for some to take advantage, just as when fans celebrating a hometown sports team championship burn cars and destroy storefronts. I don’t want to see stores looted or even buildings burn. But African Americans have been living in a burning building for many years, choking on the smoke as the flames burn closer and closer. Racism in America is like dust in the air. It seems invisible — even if you’re choking on it — until you let the sun in. Then you see it’s everywhere. As long as we keep shining that light, we have a chance of cleaning it wherever it lands. But we have to stay vigilant because it’s always still in the air.

In this discussion forum, you will begin by deciding on the instructional setting for the instructional plan you will be drafting and revising throughout the six weeks of this course. Next, you will draft the big idea for that instructional plan. Then, you will also create your first draft of an authentic assessment for that instructional plan.
Having the opportunity to create a draft of your big idea and your authentic assessment in this discussion forum before you must submit revised versions of them as part of this week’s Revising the Authentic Assessment (Application Phase)assignment on Day 7 provides you with an opportunity to gather and implement valuable feedback from your peers. Throughout this course, you must be open to repeatedly receiving constructive feedback from your peers and instructor, and willing to use this feedback to make continual improvements to your instructional plan.
• Read Chapter 4: Classroom Assessment and Differentiation.
• Watch the video Authentic Assessment.
• Download the required Instructional Plan Template Download Instructional Plan Template.
o Note: Once you have downloaded this template, you should save it somewhere that you can access it and revise it regularly throughout the course. Since you will have multiple revisions of the template throughout the course, consider saving each version of the template with a unique file name that will help you identify which course activity it was revised for. There may be times when you want to refer back to an older version of your draft.
According to Sousa and Tomlinson (2018), “Attaching important content to student interests builds bridges between the student and essential knowledge, understanding, and skills—and the student’s present and future” (p. 123). A big idea refers to core concepts, principles, theories, and processes that should serve as the focal point of curricula, instruction, and assessment. More specifically, a big idea helps learners see the purpose and relevance of content.
Authentic assessment is the idea of using creative learning experiences to test learners’ skills and knowledge in realistic situations. Authentic assessment measures learners’ success in a way that’s relevant to the skills required of them once they’ve finished the lesson. For this reason, authentic assessment should not be biased by how well or how poorly learners are able to perform in traditional tests and quizzes.
There are four parts to this discussion. Using the required Instructional Plan Template, you will
• Decide on the instructional setting for your instructional plan.
• Create the first draft of the big idea for your instructional plan.
• Create the first draft of the authentic assessment for your instructional plan.
• Post the draft template to the discussion forum for your classmates’ feedback (due by Day 3).
Once you have read your classmates’ responses to your first draft in the discussion forum (responses are due by Day 5), you will use their feedback to revise and improve your draft for the Revising the Authentic Assessment (Application Phase) assignment that is due by Day 7 this week
The Instructional Setting
To begin, you will decide on the basic instructional setting for your lesson or instruction. State the following in the required Instructional Plan Template:
• Your name
• The grade level, population, or professional environment
o You can create your instructional plan for any instructional setting of your choice, such as corporate, military, higher education, or public and private schools. The choice is yours and ideally should reflect your current or future professional goals.
• The number of learners
• The theme of the lesson
• The subject area for the lesson
The Big Idea
Using the same Instructional Plan Template you started in Part 1, create three big ideas for your instructional plan. State your three big ideas in “The Big Idea” section of the template, ensuring the following:
• Each idea must be a complete statement. It could start with the words, “I learned that” and could be followed by “for example.” (Note: It should not be about one animal, one historical topic, one story, etc.)
• Each big idea must be a broad, generalizing statement that would be interesting for learners, would expand their learning, and would evoke thought and discussion.
• Each big idea must be age-appropriate for the learners.
The Authentic Assessment
Using the same Instructional Plan Template you used in Parts 1 and 2, skip ahead to the “Authentic Assessment (The Application Phase)” section to create your first draft of the authentic assessment. Complete the following:
• Describe, briefly, the project for your authentic assessment. Think about what learners can do in a meaningful, authentic project to reflect what they have learned.
• Describe the materials needed. What will you need to ensure learners’ success on the authentic assessment? Paper, pencils, crayons, technology, and so forth? Be explicit on the material needs.
• List the content objective(s) (i.e., the learning goals) for your authentic assessment. Note: Typically, these would be the same as the general content objectives for the lesson, which you will be creating next week. For this activity, simply consider what you want the end result to be. What do you want learners to learn? Look at your big ideas and decide.
• Describe the procedure for the authentic assessment. Explain what the concluding project, activity, or assessment involves. Include any information needed about what the instructor will do. How will learners discuss the big idea studied in the entire lesson? As needed, explain individual accountability as well as any additional modeling and support needed.
• Describe the grouping configuration for your authentic assessment. Will the instructor group the class by individuals, partners, groups, or as a whole class? If the concluding project is done in groups, specify whether they are heterogeneous or homogenous. Include any cooperative structure to be used.
Describe Instructional Plan Challenges
Once you have completed Parts 1 to 3 of the instructions for this discussion forum, save your updated Instructional Plan Template draft somewhere safe and then attach it to your initial discussion post. In your post,
• Describe any challenges you experienced while drafting the instructional setting, big idea, and authentic assessment for your instructional plan.
• Explain whether drafting your authentic assessment confirmed any challenges and opportunities of implementing differentiation that you predicted in your Post Your Introduction discussion post on Day 1.
